I've got both and find that a black twill or denim pant in a jean cut works best for the first problem. Getting the right rise helps with the muffin top. I've also had pretty good luck in the past with Express Editor pants, except that they have a rather low rise. Mine are polyester (no wrinkles and machine washable).
