Playful, yet sophisticated. I would have snatched it up, but unlike you, I would not have been able to perform alterations. So I actually may have left it. I recently mentioned in Janet's post that the skirts coming out these days in stores seem cumbersome. Carla on "A new skirt (workshop, and what I wore)" https://youlookfab.com/welookfab/topic/a-new-skirt-workshop-and-what-i-wore#post-2386463 Tue, 20 May 2025 20:42:01 +0000 Carla 2386463@https://youlookfab.com/welookfab/ Cookie made me do it!  Thrifted a new skirt last week.  I was drawn to the pattern of fruit and flowers, and surprised when I read the label and learned it was LIPSON brand.  LIPSON is known as a maker of very fine men’s dress shirts.  Originally in Toronto, Ontario, they were bought out by a Montreal company, but as far as I know still make shirts in Toronto.  They supply upscale stores like Harry Rosen and Holt Renfrew, as well an independent menswear shops.  I did not know they made items for women! The 100% cotton skirt (made in Canada) had been ‘deconstructed’ at some point in time. Waist buttons moved, pleats across the abdomen let out, and the seam of one hip side let out.  It also looked like the hem had been let out.  Was it adjusted for a larger woman?  To accomodate a pregnancy?  Used as a costume?  I spent some time reversing the changes and reinstating the original tailoring - including hemming the length.  After a good wash (normal cotton cycle) my ecru skirt turned out to be white! A quick styling session followed!  I’ll probably wear #2 for Canada Day (July 1) with sneakers and a straw hat.  I’m wearing #3 for bridge tonight since I wore the green sweater today, and temps are cool, but sunny.
