Again? hehe, I never really got behind gauchos in the first place. I guess the heel part makes it a no, then. I have also seen it with ballet flats, which I suppose would not be as warm, but might work better for spring with a change of fabric.

I have some black walk shorts so I guess I'll try with those first.

Esprit is really hit or miss for me. They seem to use slash pockets on everything, which is does terrible things to my hips, but their clothing seems to run more true to size than other stores and fits me very well.

I just bought a whole spate of goodies on-line at Esprit last night. I am fan of their smarter items. But that’s beside the point. You are young and thin enough to pull of this look, but you need a heel and the key to keeping this look stylish is it’s monochromatic palette and tailoring, just like the picture. A longer walk short will also work (pretty tapered and to the knee to keep it sleek). The gaucho look with boots is passé so don’t go there again.

This is a Winter look and as Nicole points out, fabric is key.

It's definately a stylized look. I think I'd like it better with a longer short though. Maybe you can find a walking short that is somewhere between too short and too long--somewhere above the knee? I'd think that you could wear a walking short at the same length you wear a skirt.

Also, I think the fabric of the short is going to be key. A light weight summer fabric short with tights and boots is going to look odd.

I was snooping around Esprit's website and I came across a new look that I really love, but it seems like yet another one of those trends that only a select few can wear: short shorts with hose and tall boots.

http://www.espritshop.com/Shop.....85_081.jpg

I haven't worn short shorts since probably middle school. I'm definitely young enough for it, but I'm always reluctant to try what may be considered trendy because somehow I feel that most trends become trends due to their exclusivity--only a select few can pull it off, and I never seem to feel like I'm one of those few. I probably can't wear these specific shorts because of Esprit's annoying love affair with slant pockets, but I'm wondering if another pair might work. They also have the same look with walk shorts, but I'm thinking I'm too short for it. Thoughts?
