I agree with others about your body shape. You look great in the pencil skirt and the belt really defines your waist. That is a great look for you!

Yes, I agree with everyone that you are an hourglass with slight tendency toward pear, which is exactly what I am too. I would love to see you in a jersey wrap dress for spring! You would look incredible.

You ladies are so smart to be lifting weights. It is so important for osteoporosis and such down the line to do weight-bearing exercise. I really should start -- Thanks for the inspiration!

What Antje said... 3 lb weights are basically a waste of time. Don't worry about bulking up; it is only the rarest of women who will bulk up with weight training (my college roomie was one of them - but her brother was a world champion body builder, so the genetics ran in the family!).

Aim for a weight that is heavy enough you can do no more than 12 reps, but no less than 8 reps. If you can do more 15-20-100 reps, the weight is too light and you're getting no benefit. (There is no such thing as "toning.") If you can't do at least 8 reps, then the weight is too heavy and you are risking injury.

Hi Kellee. I agree with the hourglass with slight tendency to pear verdict above. I think you are in great shape

Loulou I don't think Kellee is a T & S bell shape because she has a strong shoulder line rather than narrow shoulders, but I think I can see where you go that from because she has curves more at the high hip than the lower hip/thighs.

I asked for a recheck recently, so I know the feeling of looking at yourself and wondering if things may have changed. It appears I am also on the pear/hourglass border. Like you I am a bit curvier on the bottom, unlike you more at the thigh/bottom level.

You look great in your clothed pics Kellee so I think you are on the right track already with your clothing choices.

Kellee, you look great in the grey skirt. Wow!

I agree with the rest that you are an hourglass. With regard to weights, my hubby, (who is very into fitness) said that a body can be changed, by lifting weights, but it would take a lot. three pounds won't make the change. This matches what Antje says. I lift as well at moderate weight for my size (bench press 50lb bar) and I am still very small on top and still a pear. (sigh)

Kellee, you look great.

Don't be afraid of bulking up. Several years ago I was working out like crazy, lifting free weights (10-15-20lbs depending on exercise) and using weight machines. And I noticed no bulking up whatsoever. And I don't have big arms to begin with.

You do need to gradually increase the weight you're using, otherwise your body adjusts and just coasts along and you don't get as much benefit from the exercises.

Sounds good. Like you, I really dig pencil skirts and wear them a lot. I find wrap dresses very flattering as well (on many body types, but especially on us hour glasses.)
Regarding the weight training - I do it a couple times/week, with heavier freeweights (between 5lbs-15lbs for upper body exercise depending on the specific exercise) and I can assure you it's not making me bulky. It builds muscle, adds a little tone, makes me stronger etc., but absolutely no bulk. You'd have to work out several days a week with increasingly heavy weights, and add some protein shakes, to bulk up. So do not fear... If you really do want a bit of a stronger shoulder line (in addition to the health benefits that moderate weight training provides) you could try upping your weights a bit. (All that said - I'm not an expert - just a long-time exerciser with varying commitment and varying results ;-))

Thank you all for your feedback.
Greenglove, I am glad you like the mirror. It matches the picture frame used for the fashion ladies.
Shiny ,I do weight training but I have been limiting the weight to no more than 3 pounds. I read somewhere that this is a good thing to do to keep from bulking up? It has been weeks though. Tomorrow in the day I start again. Oh the pain...
Antje, I will make sure I follow your posts to see how you work
the curves. It does sound like we have a similar shape.

Hi Kellee, I bet you're an hour glass, and I think your shape is a little similar to mine in that we're both curvier in the bottom half than in the top half of our bodies. In terms of clothes that flatter, I'd go by the hourglass recommendations.

I think you're hourglass with tendency towards pear. Not everyone fits nice and neatly into these categories. I'm hourglass with tendency towards inverted triangle (so upside-down version of you!).

When you're in the gym, do you lift weights? I ask because it's been my observation that women who lift weights (heavy ones) eventually end up with an hourglass figure - whether they start out as pears or apples. (This is assuming you're doing an all over wieght training program that exercises all muscles, not just troublezones). So if you were lifting but have slacked off recently, it makes sense to me that you could be an hourglass with tendency towards pear.

You are definitely a curvy hourglass, your shoulders and hips seem to be the same width and your waist is defined, lucky you!! A pear has a smaller shoulder line, I don't know why you think that is what you are. Great mirror!!

Hi All,

I just got a new full length mirror and wow I need some feedback.. am I really an hourglass?
That was the consensus when I sent in my first picture. It was the only one I had at the time. Since then I have learned the basics of photobucket so I am updating my picture. It is not a very flattering pic but I am too lazy to doll it up with heels etc.

I am obviously curvy, 5 lbs makes a difference with my body. But I love food and if I don't get to the gym for a few weeks, this is it.
Am I now a pear?

Or am I on the border and what does one do with that?
Thanks for your feedback. I would never send this picture to any
other place than YLF.
