thanks for all your replies.
Yeah, Kate, I like that one too!

When I was at the mall yesterday, I decided to go to Sephora to get their opinion about the warm /cool skin tone thing. Apparently, I'm more neutral to cool than true cool. I went to a jeweler after that and played with their pieces. She also said I'm more neutral and that either yellow gold, white gold or silver would work with me. With the white gold sometimes it matched my skin too closely (for that pale and ashy look!) and with the yellow gold as long as it was not brassy yellow it actually looked good. She also recommended rose gold for me though she didn't sell any. She told me to watch the copper content in rose gold since that affects its tone.
Thank you Lynne for that as well.

THEN... I tried the watch referred to in Kate's post (see above) and I really liked that. It actually made my skin "more rosy". I think I may have found the watch (again, thanks to Kate), but it'll be a bit or work to find rose gold hoops the way I want them. As mentioned in Kate's thread, I like how rose gold is more associated with vintage pieces and I have a bit of a retro vibe with my clothes.

I would try it and see, Rose, as Steph says. The size and finish make a difference to how it looks on your skin; something bold and shiny has a different effect to something brushed or fine. I see it often with peoples glasses; they might have cool colouring, yet a fine gold frame looks beautiful on them. Or vice versa.

I hate to say it, but I also think that silver might look better on your skin tone than the rose gold. Did you look at this one at all? http://www1.macys.com/catalog/.....ryID=29175

That being said, I LOVE silver even though it's not the best for my skin tone, and wear it all the time. I choose my clothing colors based on what looks good on me, but I love silver and am not a fan of yellow gold, so I tend to just do what I want with metals.

I agree that if you look better in cool tones you probably look better in silver/white gold. If you have olive-toned skin you might be able to pull off both gold and silver. I do think that rose gold tends to be a little more neutral, so that might work as well. Why not hold all three up to your face in succession and see which looks best? Or even just drape each metal on your wrist--when I do that, it's obvious to me which looks best on me.

If you look better in cool colors, then you probably look better in silver tones metals, too.

Thanks for replying. I am very camera shy and I don't think I have a recent picture. I have to wait until I can post photos anyway (new account).

My wardrobe has a lot of black, chocolate brown, charcoal, grey, indigo and navy (some brighter colors too). I think I'm better in cooler colors like true red or blue red rather than tomato red. Except for chocolate, I tend to look "muddy" in browns. My make-up (when I wear it) is more plum or berry rather than browns and tawny colors. I hope that's relevant, and can help without the photo.

Can you post a photo? That would help. Do you feel you look better in warm or cool tones? With olive skin and dark hair and eyes you could also be an autumn of some sort, so it's hard to know with a written description.

Inspired by Kate's Fossil Rose Gold Watch post, I thought I'd ask whether rose gold flatters warm or cool skin tones better? 2 items that are on my "list" right now are a metal-band watch (maybe man-style) and gold hoop earrings (about 1 to 1.5" diameter) for pretty much everyday wear (I'm lazy about changing up my accessories). I believe I am a "deep winter" according to a test I did recently (dark brown hair and eyes, light olive skin). Would you recommend yellow, white or rose gold with my coloring?

Thank you and keep up the good work!!!
Rose
