The one thing I've found with my pale legs is it helps if they match the rest of my skin, so if my face is getting color even with strong sunscreen on it, and my arms have started to freckle a lot in spite of the same,  I try to at least expose my legs to the sun a bit more so I match myself.  ;) Also I've found it easier for me to feel like going pale on gray days than bright sunny ones for some reason?   I think it's the British Isles influence on my subconscious,  pale skin and fog are good friends in my mind,  bright tropical sunshine seems to pair with skin pigment as protection - so I usually wear something long and flowy instead for practical reasons.   I think also so much depends on cultural context.  Living in countries with a huge market for 'fairness creams', and where gorgeous little girls passing by would take my arm and pet it and tell me it was beautiful, made me painfully and immediately aware of the colonial and caste implications of pale skin and how arbitrary beauty standards can be.   Somewhere (and somewhen)  every iteration is beautiful to someone, and somewhere, every iteration is not, and the 'why' has everything to do with history and almost nothing to do with aesthetics IMO. cciele on "A look where pale legs totally works" https://youlookfab.com/welookfab/topic/a-look-where-pale-legs-totally-works#post-1229824 Tue, 22 Apr 2014 16:18:08 +0000 cciele 1229824@https://youlookfab.com/welookfab/ I wouldn't have thought such a high contrast look would work on a pale-complected woman, but it totally does. BUT ... it's impossible for me to compare my own pale legs to this woman's, because her whole being is so pale. In fact, I can't imagine her with ANY bit of tan at all. So yes, she looks wonderful in all her paleness. But I don't have skin like that at all. My pale legs look like what they are -- part of a body that is not naturally perfectly porcelain white. It's more meh. Add a small dash of sunny warmth and it all comes alive. If I were this woman I would wear head to toe SPF 70 all the time. But she is a different animal from me. My issue with my pale legs is that my skin is so splotchy and shows every imperfection, vein and hair follicle. So I use just a bit of self-tanning lotion every so often to help mask all of that just a bit. Perhaps if I had really slim, gorgeously shaped legs, I wouldn't bother, but my legs are not my best feature so I usually choose to have them blend in with my overall look rather than stand out. ;-) Oh, I recognize those boots too! They're the Tibi ones my husband suggested I try. Beautiful style but oh so stiff and really uncomfortable. I don't know how she wears them! I follow a blog of a gorgeous woman with golden brown skin who looks fab in pastels. Not so much with my pale skin. Anyone ever go dramatic in hair color to find that certain tops just don't work anymore? I went bright red once and it certainly changed how I felt wearing some colors! This makes me think of something else...I have high-contrast coloring (dark hair, pale skin). So actually, having pale legs is part of an overall high-contrast look, which I enjoy doing in my outfit choices. If I were to get a tan, my entire wardrobe would probably need revamping, lol!
