I did a search and found this pic. This is what I thought it was but could be wrong.

http://celebritydays.com/ellen.....ssion.html

Here is another one that is what Melllls described.
http://www.ralphlaurenoutlets-.....p-407.html

And another one

http://www.express.com/cargo-s.....62d#jsLink

I think part of the problem with defining a color is that we all see color slightly different.

the pantone chip is def. not what i consider ink blue. i do think ink blue and navy are pretty similar though.

here is angie's take from 2008

just curious about the shade b/c it's been mentioned a lot on the forum lately.

I thought ink blue was a blue-black (darker navy) too. I started looking online for ink blue dress ideas and got a variety of shades from my search. I then realized I might be wrong about my idea of it.
The Pantone chip really threw me off, but even though they are the "authority" on color, I find how they name different shades curious.

i could be wrong though!

does it really matter? do you have a shade of blue in mind that you want and don't know the name of it?

Interesting. I consider ink blue to be a bit brighter than deep navy and with a slight purple undertone. Cobalt is much lighter and brighter. At least that is how I see it.

I was wondering about the ink blue - navy distinction as well! If Mellllls is correct, I believe the jacket I wore yesterday is ink, not navy. It's a blue that's so dark, it's nearly black. In the store, I had to hold it up against a black item to ascertain that it was blue.

i consider ink blue similar to navy but a bit darker and more black.

I have no idea if this is right, but in my head ink blue is a blue-black shade, like old school fountain pen ink.

Like this:

I was doing an online search for ink blue items but the shades I was getting for this color were all over the place. I even tried checking the Pantone site to see what they consider ink blue and got this:
http://www.pantone.com/pages/p.....?c_id=4798

This color appears to be a deep blue with a green undertone, but not quite teal.
In some pieces I saw online, it looked more purplish toned like cobalt. In others it looked like a dark navy.

Where are the color experts who can tell me what typical ink blue is like?
