I am also been looking at the BB non-iron tailored shirts.

I always have a problem with the thickness of the shirts from the gap, too see-through although I do wear a cami underneath for all shirts, no matter the colour.

My husband uses BB non iron shirts and they look great. I am debating between the Banana Republic and the BB non iron shirts for myself. Has anyone tried BR non-iron?

I also adore BB shirts, they are always crisp and last a long time. And no ironing!

Lands End makes very nice classic, white button down shirts at a very good price in regular, petite, tall and plus sizing. I own two, and they sit in my closet because I am adverse to button downs! I will try again....

Brooks Brothers shirts are the best! I find little difference between the "fitted" and "tailored". The "Spago" style has a nice v neckline. They really are no iron! I have long arms but I find the fit is perfect for me in size 8...I am 5"9".

Elisabeth, I think petite sizes are more common that tall. Usually if a store has tall sizes they always have petites as well but opposite is not true. In fact in Canada there are just a handful of store catering to tall women: Gap, Banana Republic - that's it as far as I know. However I should not complain, at least we have a special Long Tall Sally store which is exclusively for tall women - and I am lucky enough to have one in my city! :-)
as for BB shirts: I was even playing with the idea to make an special order shirts there for longer length...I LOVE those shirts!

Really appreciate the review, and my button-down/button-up (can never figure out which terminology to use) shirts need replacing, and I'm about to order some new ones.

What style in the BB shirts did you end up with? I haven't tried the Brooks Brothers shirts yet - but I'm looking forward to giving them a whirl.

How does the BB fit compare to J. Crew "perfect shirt", anybody know?
I hear good things re BB quality from my husband who has a couple of items.

Oh, boo, Sveta. That's unfortunate. I completely understand your frustration, because petite sizes are generally so hard come by! But at least I can have things made smaller. If garments don't accommodate long legs and arms, there's not much you can do!

Aargh, Anna! how frustrating. That's the trouble with white shirts. They invite stains.

Angie -- judging by how much I'm wearing my new white shirt, they may become like tee shirts for me, too. What IS it about crisp white button-front shirts that says "she's got it together"? Nice shirts that fit, I mean. Gaping between buttonholes says something else.

I finally decided over the Christmas holiday that I can no longer do without a crisp white shirt in my wardrobe. I've never owned one before because I don't think white is my best colour, but I just love them so much and more an more I'm feeling the need for a least a bit of bright white collar poking out. But I decided that, if I'm getting only one, it needs to be a GOOD shirt. I looked around and found one at Brooks Brothers (didn't even realize we had one here; I sort of stumbled on it). I've been wearing it quite a lot and just thought I'd put in a little positive review. This shirt is fantastic. It is tailored to perfection (they have petite sizes!) and is made of lovely non-iron cotton with just the right amount of stretch, and it that doesn't have that synthetic look/feel to it that some non-irons do.

I would never normally have gone into Brooks Brothers -- it's a preppy nirvana, so not quite my thing -- but I'm so glad I did. If you're in the market for beautifully constructed classic pieces, it's worth a try.
