It hasn’t been that stressful for the whole time, but it’s been creeping up on me. I have a long commute right now, over an hour per single trip, with a combination of public transport and car. And that’s if everything works out, it rarely does. Plus I often have to be at work early, which means getting up at 5am (I’m not a morning person). Lots of travel too, mostly day trips but it still takes energy. I’ll be able to start later in the morning with the new job, of course I’m also staying longer but I don’t mind that. And I’ll have a much shorter commute, just 10 minutes walking to the train station and then 15 minutes by train without changing the line. Plus a lot less travelling. It’s about 200km from where I live right now and a completely new city for me, but the few times I’ve been so far I liked it there. And it’s near enough that I can still come down for the weekend to visit my parents if I want, so that’s nice. Although the best thing about the new job is that it’s a permanent contract, I’m on a fixed-term work contract right now.
