The jeans look a tad big, but that's a good problem to have. Since we have a few more months of warm weather, I'd wait and see where your weight is in the Fall before buying new pants. Personally, once it gets hot and sticky, I'm off tight denim. If I wear any denim at all, it's my boyfriend crops.

I like the outfit. The jeans do look a little loose from the back pic but not horrible, however nothing worse than uncomfortable jeans :(

Carter, it was cutting the gluten, but really cutting the carbs from my diet. I was eating way too much pasta and bread. That plus there is a kick-butt Pilates instructor at my gym who is determined to whip us into shape for bikini season.

Firecracker, that belt was a copycat item - I saw how fantastic it looked on you, and I had to have it :)

Una and Unfrumped, I'm 5'8" and I think about 5'6" of that is legs! My torso is a tad on the short side and I think that makes my legs look even longer. And Una, I agree, slouchy in one area but fitted in another...hmmm...

Suz, I love wearing these flares and was hoping not to have to replace them, at least not until this fall. They are getting to be a bit annoying though, but mostly it's the bigness in the waist and the feeling that I need to pull them up. I think this fall I'm going to be doing some pants shopping, which is the only shopping I hate to do as I always have fit issues with pants :(

What Una said: you look 9 feet tall. I love how they look from the front and waist. Back could bevmore fitted ' cause that's what jeans are good for. You should wear more flares!

I do see what you mean about the fit of the jeans, but honestly, I agree with Sharan. Not so big that it looks bad -- only if they are not comfortable.

Good grief, how long are your legs?! I am okay with the jeans fit but I prefer jeans to be fitted in one place if loose in another (like slouchy hips and fitted calves, or fitted hips and flowy legs). Hmm, I may have just had a lightbulb moment!

Nice job on the gingham outfit! I really like it on you, Karie. I have that belt, too! I like how it echoes the color of the booties, and the white jacket is the perfect topper.
Now, about the jeans fit: I'm a little envious, and I think the jeans do look a little bit from the rear view. Not so big that they are unwearable--they just look slouchy--but big enough that you should treat yourself to a new pair that gives you that sought-after dynamite rear view!

I'd personally give anything if my jeans looked a bit loose in the hips and thighs! How, oh how, did you manage that?? I love the outfit, but if the fit feels off to you, size down.

Really nice! Classic but not boring. The jeans are a little roomy from the back, but I don't mind that -- they fit a bit like my AG Tomboy jeans.

This makes a great Friday outfit, Karie. I like the addition of the white jacket.
Many of my jeans from last year fit like this, but it could also be fact that I no longer have hips due to gravity, I suppose. Could you wear them with a longer top?
Washing jeans in hot water should shrink them in length first. Repeat washing and drying with heat will destroy any stretch and they will probably end up larger than when new.

Tracey, when you washed in hot water did they shrink in length? That's the one area I can't afford to lose any inches.

Thanks Lucy!

Wendi, it's a good problem to have, but I do wish my waist would shrink too. Now I really have the body of a board :)

If jeans are a little loose I've had success with washing in hot water and drying on high heat to shrink one size. Great job on Angie's suggestions!

Here's What Happened:
Last night before bed I thought, "What am I going to wear to work tomorrow? Oh I have nothing to wear!" (Uh OK, so I don't have the right to think that anymore.) My flares came into mind, but what to wear with? I woke up at 4 in the morning. Of course my first thought was, "What will I wear today?" (If you really like fashion, you will understand that that actually was my first thought). Again the flares came into mind. Again I tossed around a couple of top options.

The alarm went off...I got my first cup of coffee..I opened the computer...Angie to the rescue! My gingham button-down is one of my favorites, and the white bits in it made me think it would be OK to wear with my beige peep toed booties, and I need the heel height for those flares. Yay! Winner winner, chicken dinner! Now I knew what to wear.

Now I Have a Question:
I lost a few inches in my hip/thigh area and I'm thinking these jeans might be a little big, especially from the back. What do you think? Too big or still OK?

Button-down, jeans - Gap, 1-2 years old, Booties - Old Navy, this season, Belt - Fossil, last year, White jean jacket - Geoffrey Beene Outlet, 5+ years old
