Angie, I am sure you are enjoying every moment with your dear Dad. Thank you for taking the time to chime in. With my lighter hair, I am starting to think that certain leopard prints might be a neutral for me. I have always thought of neutrals as solid colors, so this is a new idea for me. I’m still studying it.

When I need help, I know where to find it! Thank you all so much! You have given me a lot to consider and great solutions. I predict the next renditions of these outfits will be elevated to fab.

Suzanimal, thank you for your suggestions. Your comments about outfit number 2 make a lot of sense and give me several ideas to try. I do have red and white jeans, so those will be my first tweaks.

Sisi, good points. I think you are right about #3. The pants tucked into the boots was too casual, at least for work. If I had worn that on a weekend I think I would have liked the outfit much better.

Krish, you have given me a lot to consider here. Thank you! I have never noticed the softness factors you mentioned. That is new for me and really interesting. If I pulled together anything close to skillful and sensual it was pure accident! #3- yes, too much going on and not working together. I should have done some editing before going out the door.

Synne and Joyce B, yours are suggestions I can easily try. I think they will work!

Lyn 67. Thank you for your keen eye and suggestions. The kidlets are on a pin. My little brother gave me the pin for my first year of teaching, back in 1983.

Cardiff Girl and Katerina bingo! I think one problem is the where the button is located. It is in the wrong spot for my body. The location can’t be changed, because the sides of the sweater are not straight. It is designed so the fabric on both sides meets in the middle. > <. Leaving it unbuttoned looks odd, so trying a darker and different style of top underneath will be my best options.

Hahaha BarbaraDiane.....ummm. Yeah.....my pose did nothing to help! What was I thinking?!

Freckles, Lynn, Rachylou and Sarah D thank you. You make great points!

LOL Jussie! Sexy Librarianish.....running to get my glasses to complete the look!

JAileen, I have worn the cardigan with skirts and I like it quite a bit.....I think I may have worn a dark colored shell underneath, so the darker color and not such a skinny look on the bottom half were probably the reasons it worked better. Thanks for the reminder!

Sal, good ideas! I do have too many items up near my face. Hmm I used to wear my hair back, or up quite a bit. As my hair continues to gray, the colors underneath are less uniform.....something I need to get my eyes to adjust to, I think. Maybe it is time to add those options to my outfits.

Brooklyn and Shevia, really good points about styling the cardi. Thank you.

Cee, you crack me up! I thought for sure you would tell me I needed a turtleneck.

I think the first one looks good. Tall boots would work too, but there is nothing wrong with the shorter boots. The mustard top outfit is terrific. Regarding the second, I shy away from buttoning a cardigan or top in the middle as it shines a spotlight up and down.

Hi ML! On no 2, I think the neckline of the top and the jacket don’t play well together. I would like to see a wrap top, cowl neck top or scoop neck top with the jacket. So that skin is showing. No necklace or a shorter necklace that fits inside the neckline.
I love 3. The colour mixing is excellent.
And no 1 is good too. I would probably prefer tall black boots too but it’s good to mix things up sometimes. Love your bag in pic 3.

None of these are bad outfits - you look terrific.

1) My favourite - I really like it. I love the bracelet and textures.

2) I think blue jeans or white jeans would be better here - I agreed with Suzanimal. High contrast is harder to wear especially with more fitted pieces - but again you look great.

3) I love the sweater jeans and boots. Really nice classic outfit and not boring. I would just wear the scarf - I struggle a bit with necklaces over winter knits but do it occasionally too. I think it looks a little busy around the collar with the hair, scarf and necklace - and opening up this area would make it balanced - you could tie your hair back as another solution.

Hi there,

FWIW: outfit 2: beautiful and unique jacket, I think it’s worth persevering with it to see if it works worn open or over a darker top.
Outfit 3: I love this, and think it’s nice on you. It seems slightly less fitted than what you often wear, but it doesn’t look frumpy, just more relaxed, sexy-librarian ish, if you will.
Best of luck

I think these are all fab! I don't see too dark in the first outfit ... Even with your light hair, you wear dark colors really well, and the browns soften it up nicely.

Lovely outfits, and a nicely varied series of looks. To address your queries:

I like your idea of tall black boots for Outfit 1. Or, echoing rachylou, how about swapping out the dark brown scarf for a light tan one? (Right now, the boots echo the background color of the skirt and the scarf echoes the spots -- maybe choosing one color to highlight in several different places would read as less choppy?)

In Outfit 2, how about a gray tee rather than white? The high contrast of the white is sort of swamping the print of the jacket right now (and the similar but not exact lengths of shirt and jacket emphasize that). Gray would bring out the red bits of the jacket more, I think.

Outfit 3 seems lovely as is but I wonder if it is one of those ensembles that looks good in pictures but feels fussy in the wearing somehow?

Mainlady here are my thoughts.
Outfit 1-2. I really like this. Love the bracelets. I think black boots or black tights with black booties might add a bit more interest and make the leopard print skirt "pop" a bit more. It looks great with the brown boots but is more subdued.

Outfit 4-6 I agree this does emphasize your bust however you look good in this. If you feel uncomfortable in this maybe wearing the cardi, which is great BTW, with less body con pants might balance your bust better Also wearing the cardi unbuttoned might help.

Outfit 7-8. Beautiful sweater, I don't think this looks frumpy at all especially with your wonderful accessories. I think the skimming fit of the sweater balances the size of your bust better with the slimmer pants than the more form fitting cardi.

Love the first outfit as is!
I see what you mean in second outfit only because I sometimes struggle with this. I liked the idea of buttoned too high and pose. In normal life may look completely different. I see what you're trying to do here but maybe less contrast might be better for that cardi.
I also believe it's the combination of the scarf and necklace in the third outfit. I'd play around with different accessories.
In the end though you look fab in them all.

You look lovely in your outfits, only some minor tweaking to make you happier with them.

Outfit 1 - 3 - LOVE IT on you. Perfect accessories. Great necklace, scarf and wow, what an interesting bag. If I should suggest any tweaking, IMHO, I would use black boots and black tights or maybe sheer tights. I do not think the outfit is too dark, it suits you beautifully.

Outfit 4 - 6 - what a cute and interesting cardi! Trying to think what might feel off with the outfit. Not sure - but perhaps the white top, as Cardiff girl says, maybe a darker top and the moving the button sound like a good ideas. Or could you wear it unbuttoned?

Outfit 7 - 8 - not frumpy to my eye. Beautiful sweater and beautiful colours. The clip on the scarf is great! (Is it a clip?) If any tweaking, I would humbly suggest not to add the necklace and let the scarf and clip play the lead role :-) You look beautiful in this outfit too!

You consistently look very nice and not at all frumpy.Taking up your points I know what you mean about #5and6,I think it’s because the button on the cardi is set too high up perhaps lowering it would help, you could also try a darker t shirt underneath ?but other than that great outfits!

I don't have any problem with nr 1 and love the accessories esp tjhe cuffs just noticed myself how brown opaques and boots are a great change to the black opaques& black midcalf boots(suede) worn by me to my simmilar outfit. So maybe you can use my candid remark for a bit of verasatility, too:-). I think nr 3 is brilliant, taht bag is such a good bookending to your blonde hair!
Nr 2 Is a bit too fitted and big contrast to my grown up eyes, but NOT AT ALL THAT BAD!!! You are too heavy on yourself! Love the cardi and colors and would wear it with a darker longer& looser/drapey on low hem/ top underneath. Instead of beads, would wear a chain.
I like 3 as it is, for a casual thing. We need this kind of simple outfits too, and this one has a great color wa y& a lovely dramatioc scarf-with an interesting brooche (is it a bvrooche in the last one?).

I disagree. These outfits are all fab AND they look cool PLUS there was happiness wearing them.

1 - I admit I looked at the pics before I read, and when I saw the first outfit, I thought the booties were an original and flattering touch. No, long black boots would have dulled the outfit IMHO, making it more generic and less personal. This one is skillful and sensual, if I may, because of its softness echoes again and again where ever the eye lands: hair, feet, neck, arm... this one is a sure win.

2- This one is my least favorite and I can see why you felt it was off: there are two light elements here, but one (feet) is warm while the other (cardi) is cool. Other than this, it's very cute. The bustiness you feel may stem from the pose. That cardi - and with the white tee here - is very cute.

3 - 7 -8 : Ah, this softness that suits you so well! Beautiful sweater, made even more beautiful when worn by you. I think you may feel not 100% happy because I see a very simple, clean outfit that wants to be born here but is hampered by a somptuous scarf exchanging blows with a gold chain and a silver clip. All items are beautiful. But maybe not together. Did you try the sweater on its own? With just the scarf? With a lighter scarf (as to avoid breaking the softness?)

Well, in my opinion these outfits are not bad at all, as Suzanimal suggests they only need some tweaking.

My modest opinion: try outfit 1 with black boots and maybe sheer tights and see how it feels. About outfit 2 Suzanimal has already given excellent suggestions! Outfit 3: I like it and do not find it frumpy. Maybe the pants tucked into the boots feel too casual?

I love the first outfit and think the boots you wore are great with it. I can see how tall black boots would look good too but I really like the brown boots. I think you look beautiful in that outfit and, you're right, that jacket is great with it.
To me, the second outfit looks off because of the black pants. IMO, you wouldn't look top heavy if you had gone with white jeans or even red. With the white and the print on top, it visually adds bulk and when you pair it with the black on bottom, it seems to really throw off the proportions. In contrast, look at the first outfit where the lighter color and the print are on the bottom - you look perfectly proportioned. I'm not sure what your shape is but I'm an IT and I look really off when do combos like the second outfit.

The third outfit is a little frumpy. I can't put my finger on what it is because I like each piece individually (especially that lovely scarf). There's nothing wrong with it but I feel like it's missing something. Maybe try a blazer or a jacket with it? That's the best I can come up with.

I think the first outfit is stunning on you and the second and third just need a little tweaking. I don't want to sound harsh because they aren't bad, at all but you're right, something just seems a little off about them. :)

Here are 3 recent outfits. All were good while in the planning stages, but I think came up short when I wore them. Pictures are really helpful, but I do think I tend to view them with a more critical eye than when I check in with the mirror. Thank goodness for happiness factors! Even when an outfit is meh, I have happy pieces to boost my mood.

For the first outfit I wish I had worn tall black boots and even though I really like black and brown, I think the overall look was too dark. My fav of these pics was with the outerwear. Hahaha.
In pics 4,5 something was off.....maybe the white top or the cut of the sweater? All I see is a massive bust.

In pics 7,8 I like the colors, but think I look frumpy.

Your thoughts on how to improve these? I like each individual piece, but the culminating outfits didn’t work the way I had hoped.

Thank you for looking and for any comments you choose to make.
