Thanks a bunch for the sweet comments.
I think I like the dress best unbelted because the belt emphasizes how ridiculously high my waist is, and even though belting it makes my legs look longer, it makes me feel like I look out of proportion. Without the belt, the color of the dress isn't as broken up and I feel like I have more balance, but I still have a defined waistline. Is that what the rest of you who liked it best unbelted are seeing too?
Angie, I was a bit of a skeptic at first way back when I read your post about curvy girls and dresses, but I'm totally a convert now and LOVE wearing them. And Anne, even though our figures are quite different, I still struggle until I find a dress I'm comfortable in. I'd say that when I'm dress shopping, I go through about 10-15 "misses" before I find a "hit."
I've mentioned to family members who are asking for suggestions for Christmas gifts that I'd be thrilled with a black "Carissa shirt", so we'll see how it goes! (According to Carissa's website, she's now offering the shirt in cream or chocolate brown as well.)
Arrrgh indeed. Honestly, the pirate costume only came about because it was the only thing that I could assemble with costume pieces that my family or I already owned. It was fun!

Kari, WOW!!!!!!! What great new items. The dress is GORGEOUS on you. I prefer it unbelted, I'm not sure why. I love the cascading cardigan, it looks great. The white blouse is STUNNING, it just looks so great on you. And your pirate costume made me laugh - so cute.

Oh yes! I meant to say that I prefer the dress sans the belt too, Kari. And you should get the Carissa shirt in black budget permitting of course :0)

Anne, I am not curvy, but I love to wear frocks anyway - and feel fabulous in the right frock. I actually wear specific frock styles to give me curves! I hope that makes sense.

More Killers from me too! That dress was made for you. I prefer it without the belt, not sure why that is? The Bratique shirt is to die for - definitely duplicate!! I love the cascading cardi as well.... studying, taking notes...

I do Angie - perhaps that is why I find dress shopping so frustrating. (more on that from me in a later thread!)

But Kari - you do look wonderful, and most especially in that dress

Love your Halloween costume! I need to put together something like this if my son goes as a pirate again

Maya, thanks so much! I hope you get a chance to try out the Bratique Helene shirt. I'm not sure if there are any other contests or giveaways coming up, but seriously, having a woven shirt that truly fits is really worth the money (when you next have more of an income.) I'm glad that you were able to have fun experimenting with more looks through YesStyle - you seriously look fantastic in what you chose, and it's fun to get a peek at the trendier, edgier side of your style.

Kari, I honestly LOVE that dress on you both belted and unbelted. Your body obviously exists for dresses. You have a very glamorous 1950's kind of silhouette!

Cascading cardi looks ADORABLE. I was also hesitant to try them out (and I love volume), but luckily getting stuff for free from YesStyle meant I could try on a whole slew of things I never tried before! I wear mine pretty much the same way you are wearing it (though no belts for me). It's a cute, cozy look.

The BH shirt looks beautiful on you. Very elegant. I want to try one SO BADLY. When is Carissa next having a contest?! I usually have pretty good luck with those :)

The Halloween costume is adorable. It made me say YAAAAR when I saw it!

1. I registered for the "myshape" site a few months ago and have been browsing its offering for a while, but had never ordered from it until last week. I found a purple patterned jersey dress that I really liked and happened to have some discounts and coupons that brought the price down a lot. The belt that came with the dress is kind of lame and too slippery to stay put together, but honestly, I think I like the dress better *not* belted anyway. What do you think?

2. I should remember to bite my tongue when I "give up" on finding a certain piece of clothing that works on me, because nearly every time I say such a thing, I end up finding just the right thing. Case in point: I don't know whether I just tried the wrong pieces before or simply needed to let my eyes adjust, but I finally found a cascading cardigan from the junior's (BP) section of Nordstrom that I adore. My mom also liked it so much that she bought one herself in a different color. I'm thinking of duplicating in teal.
Unbelted with skinny jeans and belted with pencil skirt

3. Finally, as you can see from the above link, I finally made my big budget purchase for fall and ordered a Bratique Helene white woven shirt (the same one that Nicole modeled and reviewed earlier this year.) Honestly, I am VERY impressed with how well it fits, and particularly that the hook and eyes are MUCH easier to deal with than I expected. I'd actually love to duplicate this shirt in black, too.
(Close-ups are here and here, and please excuse the awful hair.)

4. And just for fun, this was my Halloween costume this year.
