Also enjoyed seeing in the supermarket that what I remember from my first trip to Amsterdam (with parents, at age 8) was an enduring tradition--chocolate sprinkles (sold in large boxes, rather than those little shakers you see in the US) for sprinkling on top of buttered bread.&nbsp;</p> <p>And we learned about Sinterklaas. It was our first visit, as well as the first time ever going to the Caribbean. It was a lovely place. Not only for the beautiful blue sea, but because of the sweetness of the locals. It's an interesting place, combining Dutch, Latin/Spanish, local cultures and of course the influential presence of the tourists. Anyway I will have to upload our personal pics later, but hubby did his windsurfing and I tried kitesurfing! Well, in only one lesson&nbsp;I never got to the point of getting on the board, but I started with what they call "body dragging" with the kite, and it was thrilling, I tell you! Mostly I loved just lolling about in the ocean like a sea otter.&nbsp;</p> <p>I meant to take a pic of the Dutch pancakes we had FOUR TIMES over the week, but I guess I was always too hungry to remember. This was at Linda's Pizza and Pancakes, I think it was called. Really good. I was in a swimsuit covered by an UV-resistant t-shirt and shorts about 90% of the time. Sand all over me. I had to hose down in front of our house. We stayed in a private residence (Airbnb.com, really loving that) and we mostly did grocery shopping and ate at home. I think our last night I wore bootcuts and my high-heeled Fluevogs and that was the best I did. No matter. It was one of the most relaxing vacays I ever had.&nbsp; </p>
