Cute dress that looks terrific on you! Agree that I’d try to style it more casually before giving up on it - it’s very flattering.

It’s hard to see, but I think I have that same BR dress and love it - is it the sandwashed fabric with the tie belt? Mine is black, too, but I find it to really be more of a dark gray/green.

You have a wonderful figure. I think a jacket or jean jacket would work nicely with the first outfit. Second dress seems really easy to wear. Looks good too.

It's a great dress and is flattering on you, but I know the feeling of a dress feeling dowdy. I hope you will report back if the sneaker and jacket made the dress work for you!

I have a similar dress to this one with a similar issue of frump - even though that dress does fit you well. I agree that a denim jacket & trainers could help to dress it down, but I also like to wear mine with a bright scarf, earrings &/ or knee-high boots. A coloured belt could also work, if you don't mind that feeling on your midsection.

I like the dress too! This and the BR one wouldn't serve the same function, since different seasons. The Boden could be worn in winter with tights and boots or in transitional weather with sandals, and the BR is just a warm/hot weather dress.

Agree with everyone - dress is great on you and easy to mix with casual pieces. Ecco blush sneakers sounds great - comfy and fresh. Some light colored bag would nice to throw in the mix.
V-neck dark green sweater is pretty on you and the all the jewelry works
very well.

I see you’ve solved the problem. I was going to suggest pink or blush footwear. The dress fits beautifully. When the weather gets nice, wear it for dinner alfresco or a picnic in the back yard with Mr. Maven. Does he have a pink golf shirt and navy trousers?

FWIW, V necks are very flattering on you.

My brain goes on in old worn tracks. Dress like this needs dressy shoes, nice jacket. Blah blah.

Of course. This will be just the thing. I have the blush Ecco sneakers and several jackets that would work. It just never occurred to me that I could put an outfit to together in the same way Angie has shown us--and many of you.

Thanks so much for the ideas.

The dress looks lovely, but it sounds like it doesn't fit your personal style or lifestyle anymore ... therefore, if you feel like letting it go, you should!

If you're unsure or might have an occasion, perhaps keep it as part of a 'special occasion' capsule rather than feeling it should be in regular rotation?

I bought this Boden Hannah dress a year ago on a half-off sale. I've never worn it other than to try it on. I wanted it in the solid navy, maybe even the black, but by the time I decided the solid colors were sold out.

It's a nice dress, well made, lined. So what's wrong with it? This is the kind of dress I would have worn 15 years ago to go to a firm dinner or go out to dinner with one of DH's clients. I thought I still needed such a dress. Obviously I'm not going to need it for several months now, if ever.

It was a little snug last year and in photos I thought it looked kind of dowdy. Maybe the print? Looks better this year because I've lost some weight, mostly around the middle, just where the style cuts in to show the belly. I can't wear heels any more, and even my flat dressier shoes have become harder to wear, for example these AGL shoes that I think are 4 years old. I could wear dressier sandals with it. I would wear it with a different pendant.

I think my days of fitted dresses are over. Last year I wore a simple black knit fairly straight dress from a BR and wore it over and over and look forward to wearing it again.

So I switched outfits and now feel like me. This is the last Boden cotton sweater and the only one you haven't seen so far. Dark wintergreen. Switched pendants too, to the tourmaline I showed you last week.

The group photo is the only one I have showing much of the BR dress--Chicago River cruise last summer. Everyone in that photo has lost weight in the last year, especially the one on the far right.
