This is a great idea - for us to do something as a group, whether it be a mass donation or what. Will look forward to hearing more.

That is so sweet of you Velvety! Thanks for the shout out. But to be sure what I do at DFS is very small.

Our chapter has different kinds of benefits and fund raisers from time to time (which I usually don't get involved with because it makes me very uncomfortable to ask friends/family to donate). I'm not sure if it would be possible or even practical to organize a mass donation of actual clothing items to one location, but the thought is a good one!

If you want, I could pass your name along to our director and the two of you could collaborate to come up with something that YLFers could donate to.

Lyn D. - thank you - it was just a spur of the moment thought. I don't have a Dress for Success in my area or even an affiliate, but I did go looking through their website to see about donations.

Having looked around their website (DFS), my thoughts of doing a coordinated donation might be a bit tricky to organize. Apparently, some DFS locations might not be receiving clothing donations at a particular time - which makes sense, in that one "store"/location might have plenty of clothes/accessories at times. I'll probably just send a financial donation around the winter holidays.

Lovely suggestion V.C.
I would like to help but alas, I am too far away!
I hope- and I am sure that others will chime in to grow this idea.

I'm so impressed with Angie, Claire, Natalie and now Rae for volunteering at Dress for Success...

I don't have one in my area...but I'm wondering if there is maybe something special the YLF community could do over the winter holidays to come up with a bulk donation of clothing/accessories to one location or just a financial donation of some kind. I'm not sure what exactly, but it would be nice if we could all come up with something for Dress for Success, don't you think?

Comments, thoughts or ideas? Could we all pool our give-aways or donations for Dress for Success or similar organization this winter and help someone else feel and look fab? If this is too much hassle logistically - then do you think we could donate some money (together) to this or another similar organization as kind of a holiday gift?

Just throwing out the idea. Food for thought...
