Suz and Adelfa, I'll have to chalk this up as a learning experience and consider myself temporarily incapacitated by the stimulation overload in the ON store : )

I find that unstructured jersey dresses are not good on me. I'm with those who say you *can* do better. A little more structure and your figure will look amazing! Too bad because it looks comfy and the color is great. I'm taking notes on the forum observations because I've recently rediscovered ON. Watch the dresses!

Yeah....sadly. You CAN find the odd decent thing there, but I find the dresses pretty low quality.

This is the other thread, Kelly.
http://youlookfab.com/welookfab/topic/kr-dress

I wasn't very clear here, I kind of unintentionally referenced two threads. I posted a K/R of a long sleeve green dress and then another thread about summer skirts. I saw this dress today and thought it might be a skirt substitute. It just happened to be green too : )

Raisin, Glory and Kelly thanks for the kind comments - I like do the dress and think it would function the way I want.

But, I think the less favorable comments make enough sense that I'll return it.

Texstyle, your objective comments are right on and are exactly what I needed to hear. I can do better. Thanks, I appreciate that!

Tina and Kalli you make good points about the shape and fabric.

Thistle, don't feel bad about saying it has a frump factor - I need those observations! Maybe because it's a young woman's dress on a NOT so young woman?

I like the color a lot. I think the other dress had a better fit. I really think you can do better than this. I really feel bad saying this, but t has a touch of frump factor to my eye. I think a more streamlined top would be better, or if an oversized top, and more streamlined bottom. With it being big in both places, it boarders on frump to me. That is why I like the LE dress better. The streamlined top with the looser bottom was very flattering. Enough so that I ordered one to try.

This is the kind of dress that I wear when it gets hot. It's cool, breezy, cheerful and machine washable. Perfect when it's too hot for shorts. Top it with a jean jacket or lightweight shrug and your good to go for an evening stroll too. I definitely think this kind of dress has a function and it looks good too!

I think the color is great, the fit not so much. It does look thin, and doesn't wow me at all. It's a very bleh kind of dress. I believe you're not feeling it much because joy doesn't jump out of your photos.

I think you can do better Pil. I find that ON dresses are usually just very thin and designed for younger gals in terms of fit. Of course here I am not even a "dress" gal commenting -- but I am looking at it very objectively and I do occassionaly buy dresses, but I am very picky about them. I'd probably go for a slightly heavier fabric (even for summer) and a cut that is more in line with us grown up ladies.

Edit: I didn't mean to say that grown ladies can't wear any style they want but I think the waist cut is too high, the arm holes don't see quite right and I don't really love where the sleeve ends on many dresses from ON and similar stores.

The dress looks great! I think a real belt could work well too, not that the scarf doesn't look pretty! If fits you great.

Popped into Old Navy to look at skirts after a Bed Bath and Beyond run today. This dress is something I wouldn't typically try on but thought I'd give it a go for a spring/summer just running around outfit possibility. I rather like the neckline and bit of waist surrender with the bloused top. Is it too young? Too short? Fit? Is this just a big fat fail and I'm not seeing it?

I wondered about belting it, but don't have a summer belt. The scarf is not a gypsy impersonation, but more of a belt placeholder just for reference : )

The sweater is somthing I brought home but haven't completely decided on.
