I like the DVF the best and dress #1 the of this round best. I have a DVF wrap dress on my wish list. I vote keep one if it isn't too much so you can wear it until you get your DVF.

I love #2 but it seems like it needs a cami underneath. And as the owner of a silk jersey DVF, I second the motion to hold out for one of those!!

My favourite is dress #2.It doesn't give you a tummy, it just accentuates all the right parts.
I don't care much for dress #1 or #3.

To my eye, there is absolutely no contest between the style of dress in 3-4, and the wrap dresses--the defined waist and interesting gathering of 3-4 really looks splendid on you.

It sounds like you've got it all sorted! Just wanted to add that none of these dresses looks remotely hazmat (or even post partum) to me.

I am learning a lot about DVF by reading your posts! I have never owned one, but I came across a real one in a thrift store recently. It was too big and the colors would have looked hideous on me but I stood there feeling the fabric for the longest time. Yes, it was silk (I'd never seen a silk knit--jersey or not). Wow. WHAT a difference.

I have a polyester/spandex wrap dress that looks nice but my skin crawls when I put it on. The silk would be comfortable in humidity or any temperature. What luxury. If you can afford one, I would definately hold out for just the right one; it will be worth the wait!

I love both of the new dresses over the DVF. Dress #1 (adore that print) and #2 seem to fit better and skim over your body nicely.

DressLover's advice on finding just the right DVF is great. Maybe we need to start holding YLF field trips! I'd be right there with you:)

the 2nd dress (# 3 & 4) is definitely the most figure flattering, it does not make you look pregnant at all. I think the first dress is nice, too, but maybe not as flattering as # 2. I would vote to return the 3rd dress.

Thanks guys! I'm glad you like the new dresses, especially the pink one--I was worried the draping made my tummy look bigger but maybe it actually camouflages the pooch. Both of the new dresses are polyester and spandex (not elastane, I was thinking of my Anne Fontaine shirts); the first one says machine washable or dry clean and the second one says dry clean only, but it's the same exact material as the first so I don't see why it wouldn't be washable. Thanks for the suggestions and I will try a cami with the pink one. I have a half Spanx and a Spanx slip now to wear with my dresses. I like the bolder print on #1 compared to the DVF dress actually. And I don't have a lot of pink so it would be nice to branch out. And I can keep both of them for less than I paid for the DVF. I will run them by DH too and see if he likes them (although he tends to hate prints so I doubt he'll love them). Thanks DL and everyone else about the education on the DVF dress materials and cuts. I'm going to return the DVF dress and hold out for another one that is perfect!

I like both #1 and #2, the first one for that great geometric pattern, and the second for the fabulous draping. They both seem to fit much better than #3. I guess you'll have to decide how many dresses you want or need in your wardrobe based on your lifestyle, but these 2 are certainly flattering on you.

I think the draping in #2 is very flattering on you. Have you ever considered the lighter weight version of Spanx? I find that it isn't constricting like other shaping garments and just smooths out the lines. I wear them occasionally with clingier fabrics and it is just a touch more control that pantyhose tops and makes a huge difference in how a dress drapes.

ETA I too meant dress #2 in photos 3 and 4.

Natalie, I admire your desire to quickly revamp your wardrobe, but your quest for a DVF might not be as quick as you'd like. It may take a couple seasons to find the perfect DVF. If you travel, I'd recommend waiting until you can go in person to a DVF shop so you can compare all the styles and fabrics in person. You might spend a couple hours there, but you will likely leave with a perfect dress and the ability to better gauge DVFs when shopping online. Think of it like Anne Fontaine - the experience is much more personalized and accurate in a brick and mortar shop.

Rambling aside, I do like #1 on you. A DVF in silk jersey will be like that dress, but feel nicer against the skin and be slightly thicker as well. If you only take one piece of advice, listen to me about the silk jersey. It is incredibly soft, high quality, thick material that will hide a multitude of sins while feeling like you are in pajamas.

The knit wool of dress #3 is super thin compared to the silk jersey. (if you want wool, go for the wool jersey.) Also, the tiny pattern is not an ideal pattern either. Typically, the larger the print, the greater the camouflage factor. Also, more random, abstract patterns camouflage better than repeating geometric prints.

I would keep #1 if it is washable as the DVF likely won't be and try to hold off on purchasing the DVF until you have more time to explore the options available.

I like 2 but if it makes you feel like you have a pooch IRL, I would say that's a dealbreaker. It's also a little low cut for work. Can you pop on a half-cami underneath to make it more work appropriate? I know you are attached to the DVF but I think you may grow to regret it.

Hmm, I'm a big fan of the DVF wrap dress (I have one in green and white), but seeing these all, I think the DVF does cling a little. I think the JB fits you a little better. The JB are nice dresses too -- I just passed one along to my niece that didn't fit me anymore, and I was sorry to let it go.

I also really like the Laundry dress on you! I don't see pregnant at all! I think it creates a very nice shape, emphasizing the waist and draping nicely over the hip. Just add a cami for daytime.

I really liked the DVF on you when you first modeled it, but now seeing it compared with these two dresses, I don't think it's the best dress for you. I love both #1 and #3. The Julie Brown dress is a great fit, and I think the color and print are more flattering to you than the DVF. I also love the Shelli Segal dress on you and actually think the draping is gorgeous and very flattering on you. The only drawback on this dress would be that you might need to wear a cami for daytime.

I actually think I prefer the fit of the two new ones. The DVF looks a tad snug to me, while the others somehow cling in the right places. I can't really choose between them, though. I think you'd need a cami under #2 - what do you think? And I don't think that #2 makes you look pregnant at all. These all look very nice on you - whatever you pick will be a great addition to your wardrobe.
