I have one from KMart that has held up beautifully, yet I have had two from Bloomingdales' that have not.</p> <p>Though I agree with the others on J Crew and Banana Republic. I have generally done well with their merino wool sweaters from both. Cotton sweaters, I like Lands' End. I have also done well with cashmere from Bloomies. This is about the time of year that Bloomies has their big sweater sale. The one sweater I have from Boden in Merion wool, I love. It is very textured, almost like a boucle, that shows no wear and tear.</p> <p>In any case, do get yourself a good sweater stone or defuzzer. I do have a silk/cotton blend from BR that has pilled but once I doctor it up, it looks fine. I haven't found any cashmere cardigans that hold up well.
