I agree that some braless-ness is probably healthy and when I responded I was very focused on appearance and my interaction with other people.
Christiane Northrup suggests that women not only spend some time without bras, but also that raising your arms above your head for a few minutes a day will encourage the lymph draining that Gigi mentioned.

I actually make it a point to go braless as much as possible--I think that it's healthier, because the lymph can circulate in the breasts better. I went to the mall today braless, although I did have a blazer on over my t-shirt. But I have gone braless with just a t-shirt, as long as the shirt is opaque. Some people do notice, and I will be stared at, but I guess I can't blame them. It's not a common sight.

I am trying to find more tops and dresses that work well braless. When you don't wear a bra, shirts don't always fit all that well. I do have a small bust, which makes going braless easier.

If I could, I'd go braless almost all the time - sometimes I really do enjoy the shape bras give me. Alas, the breasts are bigger now, so I can rarely get away with bralessness - and really, I never could because my nipples are more than a little noticeable.

I do go braless in our apartment building hallway, though. If I need to take stuff down to the trash room, I just wear a tee and cardigan, or a heavy shirt, so I'm at least a little more covered. When our dog was still alive, I did this, very occasionally, when taking her out to pee.

I just got back from vacation, where I stayed first at a friend's house, then with family. I planned my wardrobe so I wouldn't have to wear a bra with my lounge wear. At my friend's house, that meant just wearing whatever I wanted, because neither she nor her fiance cared if I was "properly" dressed. With family, it meant packing a cardigan so I'd have a second layer to pull over my tee.

There's a kind of self preservation angle to this question? I feel more attractive to other people, more stabilized for activity, and more dressed and ready when I'm wearing a bra.
And being that person makes me feel much more attractive to myself.

I'm with Ariziphale and Rachylou and others..prefer that "strapped down" feeling. I have been saggy since I was a teenager and do not like the feeling. Unlike a lot of people I have never found bras to be uncomfortable. Even on hot/humid days I'd rather wear one than not.

Even tho I have received no endowment, I don't like the jiggle of no bra and find running painful, to be quite honest. And I do indeed sleep in a bra, as well as believe what people say about the problem of bralessness in the work place.

But all that said, was still raised by wolves...uh hippies, lol. I don't think wearing one means anything - nor not wearing one. Does it?

Exactly. Do whatever works. No one can really see your breasts under a loose shirt anyway.

I was thinking some more about your question, "will it progress into a place that embarrasses my children?". I don't know the answer to that. I think we're a touch on the prudish side here in North America, though. And so what if you don't care? Haven't we earned a right not to care? If jiggling boobs offend your neighbours, isn't it them with the problem, not you?

I do it all the time, if I'm just running to the store or whatever. As long as I'm not wearing a tight or sheer top I dont feel self conscious. Especially in winter when you can't see anything under the coat and scarf anyway.

I never wear a bra at home, unless we have company. I quite literally take it off a minute after walking in the door most days.

When I lived in an apartment (for many years) I used puffers to conceal bralessness when taking the dogs outside in the early morning/late night. In warm weather a puffer vest and cold weather a puffer jacket. Now we have a house and the freedom to let my dogs into the backyard is priceless. So for me, only braless at home.

Yup, to going braless whenever it suits me. My underwires are totally comfortable (although I'd never sleep in one), but sometimes it's nice to go it alone. Maybe it's a holdover from the sixties, but I've never figured out why my choosing to wear, or not wear, a bra would be of concern to anyone but me. In most other countries, the bra doesn't seem to be as big a necessity as it does here.

I'm happy to wear a bra and feel better with one on. I just have cringeworthy memories of an older woman in my life ( not my mother , thankfully) who stopped wearing one , even in public, and it was so distracting (never mind so unattractive ) . It informed that connection between droopy bralessness and letting yourself go. I'm not wearing one in the evening s after a bath and wearing my pyjamas ,but I'm totally covered up by a robe . Yea, call me conservative , but I'm ok with that

No, I'm not comfortable braless. I always wear a bra, even lounging around the house. But I do have my "indoor" bras. They are the Bali Comfort Revolution type, no underwire, soft and stretchy, but just enough support so I don't feel or look braless. I have gone out for a quick run to the store in one of them, too.

I totally would if, like Aziraphale and Xtabay, I didn't find a braless state so uncomfortable. The only time I'm not wearing a bra is in the shower or at my annual exam. I can't even sleep without one. I love that other people feel comfortable though--and it never bothers me to see women who aren't wearing bras, though it seems to happen so rarely these days.

If I ran into you and Arlo on a walk, you could be wearing haute couture and I wouldn't pay attention to anything but him. Puppy cuteness trumps all!

I've been tempted to do that, but I'm always scared I'll run into someone I know and the word will spread that I'm going to perdition. And, like Aziraphale, I just don't like the way braless feels. Even back in my flower-child days, I usually had a bra on! The girls have never been free-range, I'm afraid.

Too self conscious. I wear a bra every time I open the front door or exit the house. I wish I could get past this, but I'm not there yet.
