Wacoal is my favorite brand. They even have "petites!" Maybe one of them would work? They are definitely worth checking out!

I'm over 3 hours from the nearest Nordies, and I don't see any possible dates for a day trip there within the next 6 months, so I will be stuck with the trial and error, DIY method. That's okay with me. I'm just trying to figure out where best to start.

I understand that the band is supposed to be snug. When I say I haven't been able to fasten a 32, I literally mean that though! DH was with me in the fitting room and laughed hysterically at my attempt.

Macy's and Bergner's (like BonTon and Elder Beerman) are my two best dept stores locally. Via the web, they carry Wacoal and LaMystere and some of those better brands, so I will start with ordering from them. I'm heading out of town for a week, so that project will be on hold until I return.

I was just especially annoyed with the ill-fitting bra I was wearing yesterday and felt desperate to do something about it!

Merry, I would definitely seek out a professional fitting. One thing I learned (after my first professional fitting two years ago) was that bra bands are supposed to fit much more snugly than I realized. I had been wearing a 34AA since reaching adulthood, but after the fitting found I should have been wearing a 32AA. The band should just barely fasten on the loosest hook when new, as the elastic will stretch over time and you'll be able to snug it up on the tighter hooks. Yes, it feels *quite* snug at first, but I especially like the fact that my bras no longer "move around" on me since I have no cleavage to hold them in place.

merry77 - you probably know about getting fitted from Maya's thread, but any chance you will ever be anywhere near a Nordstrom in the next few months?

I am pretty flat chested and had always presumed it didn't matter what I wore. When I got fitted, she was knowledgable about what brands to offer for trying on (it also helped to warm her I had the patience of a gnat when it came to bra trying).

I ended up a 32B and loving some Calvin Klein bras she brought me. I NEVER would have figured my size or those brands out by myself. . .

It could be very helpful and save you lots of time and $$ vs experimenting on your own.

Vix - the links in that article were very helpful. Maya will be interested to know that http://www.lulalu.com gives the same measuring instructions as she does.

I read through Maya's long thread, and according to her method and Lula Lu's, I'm a 32D. I don't understand that at all because most 34 bands I have tried on have been too snug in the band before considering anything in the cup size, and every 32 band I've tried on hasn't even been able to close. Maybe it's because I've been looking at cheaper locations - Target, JC Penney, etc.

I know I need to start looking elsewhere, but I really am in the middle of nowhere as far as shopping is concerned. I also have been hesitant to spend much money so far because my new teeny tiny size is due to losing 50 pounds. My weight has been pretty much the same for 3 months now, but my shape is still changing.

In the meantime, I was at Target last night so I tried on everything I could get my hands on and ended up coming home with a 34C. It's not perfect, but it's better than anything I currently own, so it will help tide me over before I chomp down and order a bunch of stuff or am able to visit a store like Intimacy. I looked online and found that the better department stores in my area have 32D's available online at least, so that will at least make returns easier.

Could it be that the cheaper brands have conformed their sizes to the traditional sizing method but the better brands haven't?

Do like my sister and I used to do and flip the cups inside out?? (Sorry, couldn't resist. I had no chest to speak of until I had 3 kids. Kind of a payoff for pregnancy and breastfeeding...LOL)

Hi merry and welcome. I think you really need to go somewhere and get a professional fitting. Hopefully Maya will chime in soon with some of the best places for this x

I've measured myself 15 different ways at least and tried on a bunch of stuff. My measurements say I am a 36AAA. My ribcage is more football-player shaped than girly, and I am obviously pretty flat-chested. I can make do with a 36A, but it's still way too big in the cup area. I can't size down to a 34A because it won't fasten.

I know there have been lots of suggestions on where to find bras for the well-endowed. What about for those of us who are not endowed at all.
