That been said, I wore one  from a domestic designer in a more tailored fit and midi lengt,h in a charcoal  grey textured knit with some elastane content (elastane being new for me at that time) all zippered down the front at my DD's Christenning. Like you and Angie I think we may have had a pinafore as part of our winter school uniform. Not sure I have a photo as the photo sessions were usually taken in the summer uniform. I bought 2 pinafores again in about 2010 and wore them a lot for a good 7 years before editing them out. They were sort of tunic length and good with a tartan shirt underneath and winter tights and flats. I think there was a long enough gap between leaving high school 1978, and 2010, 32 years, for the sceptre of the school uniform to be banished! I love your 90s redux- and I still like doing reduxes! Back in the early 90s before I went teaching I temped in offices. I used to dress similar to this. Two pinafore dresses one grey pinstripe and one black. White blouse black tights and platform loafers. Apparently Tori Amos is popular again and i have been driving around the city in my mums 1994 manual as my son got his licence and took my automatic, listening to the 90s hits and reliving the past. Last photo is a photo from the 90s.  This is one of my pinafore dresses.  It was a straight line and came down to my knees.  Couldn't find a photo of the whole dress.
