I am very late to comment here (incredibly hectic schedule these days) but I just wanted to say that you look amazing! The top and skirt combo is fantastic, not to mention how great legs you have. Plus the haircut, which is incredible. Way to go!

They were quite a find at I think only $35 or so on 6pm.com. The cutouts also work nicely for summer. I don't know if they'll pass the 8 hour test or not, but at least I have some cute 4 hour shoes. Seattle would probably offer me some marvelous clothing opportunities, and I do like rain, but not in such large doses. I do enjoy busting out my Marimekko umbrella though. Umbrellas are definitely an accessory for me.

I'm just going to let my hair grow until my girl gets back and then return to my usual choppy style. That's what headbands are for. I'm afraid she might not come back after having her baby, in which case I might resort to the lawnmower. Not that I have a lawn.

YOU FOUND SHOES! I'm humbled to have inspired you. LOVE those cream flats. I’d wear them in a second. You know I’m a boot girl and boot wearing season is around the corner (YAY). Come live in Seattle. Lots of boots and coat wearing opportunity here.

New haircut is uber sophisticated. Very pretty! It looks great! But I too prefer your hair choppy and spunky. Next fight with the lawnmower.

Pictures with heads look better to me. No more trips to the guillotine, Maya.

You know, I think I look tiny for two reasons:

1) I'm kind of um, oval shaped? So from the front I look wider than from the side. This is probably true for most people, but in real life you never see a person from just one perspective, and that's really the only angle I think you guys have seen of me.

2) I left my head on. I noticed that when Julia left her head on, she looked slimmer. I guess I might leave my head on more from now on.

3) Nicole is cute! Cute, cute, cute, cute, and more cute.

4) I'm going to try and wear the skirt with some opaque tights and boots in the fall. I'm hoping the tights might control my bum a little bit. It's really the fault of the fabric in this case. It's very very very very stretchy, meant to hug every curve, lump, and bump you have. The length doesn't bother me, just the tightness. I used to love this skirt when I had a pancake butt though, which is why I have it.

Thank you ladies for your compliments. You're all so lovely! And yes, this is the haircut my mommy took me for. I am experimenting with different stylists because the girl I normally go to is on maternity leave. I miss her so much! She gave me the best haircut I ever had. This is actually not the cut I wanted. The guy who cut it was clearly very inexperienced and nervous and cut my hair like a mouse, but he did a good job with my bangs.

This is the haircut I normally get...more short layers. Hard to see though. I actually took this picture for you guys when I tried on that dress at H&M, but ended up taking new pictures at home because I felt like something was off about these mirrors, though I couldn't place what it was.

Is that the new haircut? It's awesome!

And I was also going to mention the adorable shoes, and say you have great legs, and what everyone else said...

As for the shirt, it's funny you mentioned this... today I am wearing an Anthropologie top I bought last spring that just never worked quite right. I loved the idea of it, but quickly realized through YLF that it's just not the right style for me for many reasons - including the too-puffy sleeves which I actually liked when I bought it.

Anyway, this shirt was also way too big. I was constantly adjusting and readjusting it all day long, to avoid flashing too much cleavage (but it unfortunately doesn't work well with a cami).

Then the other day, I decided what the heck, I'm going to throw it in the laundry and see if it'll shrink.

And it did! So it now fits much better on top.... but lengthwise it's completely wrong. It might look cute tucked into a high-waisted skirt, but that's the only thing I can think of. I tried a belt, and that looked wrong. I tried a cardi, but it covers up the cute detailing on the sleeves and gives weird lumps.

I was hoping when my DD's get home one of them will take a quick photo and I was going to post it to have everyone confirm I just need to let this one go....

Ooh... one of my DD's is home... I'll go see if I can get a pic....

They are Angie, and they were inspired by YOU! You had 2 pairs of cream flats in your post about toe cleavage and I loved them both (though I couldn't wear the pointy ones).

http://www.6pm.com/n/p/p/7339777/c/15.html

I found them and was encouraged by the "felt wider than marked" rating. They are very soft and just kind of let my foot spread out however it wants. I'm not sure if they're 8 hour shoes yet, but the nice thing about the suburbs is that I don't need 8 hour shoes. We'll see soon if they stand up to city walking though.

p.s. I'm sure my confidence will be up in the fall/winter. Somehow I find it a thousand times easier to dress myself when it's cold. Coats and jackets do wonders for me and boots are my favorite kind of footwear, and all the layering puts me over the moon. Summer just annoys me, stylewise at least. Perhaps I need to move to a colder climate and then I won't whine so much :p

Thank you San. I guess it's not evident in that picture, but the skirt is a bit tight fitting. It's VERY stretchy so it really clings. I don't mind the length so much, but it makes my bum look a bit too voluptuous for my liking. Not the best thing to wear on the streets of NY.

I think you look awesome in that skirt and top. Even though the skirt is on the short side you have the legs for it and you are young, so you look great. You don't look trampy, like you say. I think you have the edge that is mentioned on the forum in a good way.

Oh please don't beg Nicole. You sound like my ex boyfriends. But unlike ex boyfriends, you know I'd never say no to you. In fact, I'm even going to leave on my head because I forgot to crop it and now I'm too lazy to bother, and it's mostly covered anyway.

Sorry for how dark it is and for the trampy skirt. My other skirts are packed away. I think the length looks better when the skirt is longer. More proportionate.

You can only imagine my horror when I realized I had accidentally thrown my new BR cowl neck top in the dryer. I had only worn it once so far and I was devastated that I had ruined it.

I tried it on just to make sure it was really spoiled, and it did feel significantly smaller, but not too bad. Unfortunately the shrinkage managed to iron away all the beautiful draping that I managed to create before, but the cowl part still looked nice and it wasn't too clingy. It shrunk a little bit in length though, so even though I could recreate some of the draping by scrunching it a bit, I had to keep it long and smooth to wear with pants.

However, when I tried it on with a skirt and ruched it up a bit, it came to the perfect length, so I ended up with a skirt-length top.

The moral of the story is that if you're in search of skirt tops and can't find any, try your luck at laundering a knit incorrectly. The fabric content is rayon and lycocell.

Someone here will probably ruin my fun by telling me that I have destroyed all the favorable properties of the fabric, but I wore the top today and it seemed to hold up and look good. Of course, if you try this advice and ruin a top, I will not be held responsible so proceed with caution! I'm just telling you what worked for me.
