How wonderful for Alessandra to be back on stage. I can understand her feelings of disconnect when she hung up her ballet shoes: once a dancer, always a dancer.

I saw a wonderful dancing couple on 'Britain's Got Talent' last week-
the wife was 50 and her partner in his late 40's.
They were beautiful together and age just didn't even play a factor!

Fascinating. Dancing professionally must be so hard on the body, but looks so beautiful.

Lovely article --- I remember Baryshnikov retiring from ballet, and rekindling his joy for dance in modern, theatrical works. I can relate. As a singer, I sang Juliette (Gounod), but I don't feel like her now. I want to sing the pieces and roles that matter to me. I'm no longer interested in "doing someone else's gig." It's a refinement of sorts, but one that makes my performance more interesting, even if they make me practically no money!

On the topic of using age and experience to one's advantage: I loved this article about Alessandra Ferri, a 53-year-old ballerina. It is a beautiful story.

She "retired" almost 10 years ago, but continues to dance in productions. She notes, "I have gone back to the pure joy of what I feel when I dance.”
http://www.nytimes.com/2016/06.....o-juliet-k
