The wooden ones bring back memories for me too. The foot used slip through and toes look like fingers. The Dr rises again. Hope they work out.

Ah yes! The wooden version cured me of my pigeon-toed walking gait when I was in junior high. I kept clipping my ankle with the wooden toe of my other shoe. Oouch! I still have scars, but I also have more ladylike walk. I loved these sandals, but I remember them being called "Dr. Scholl's Exercise Sandals," because you had constantly grip with your toes. There was a satisfying "fwap fwap" sound against your heels with every step.

I believe Olivie Newton-John wore the high-heeled muled "Candies" With spandex. Lordy.

Oh, the nostalgia of these shoes! I had the wood-sole version too - in fact, they were the 'it' item in junior high, and sold out at all the discount family-type stores.

Let me take a moment and remind you all of a kinder, gentler, Olivia-Newton-John-powered Xanadu-world where girls sported ribbon barrettes (or, alternatively, feathered 'roach' clips as a hair accessory), wore their wood-soled Dr. Scholl's... and there was no Wal-Mart.

I know. It doesn't seem possible.

Thanks for the tip. I recall them as well and about the ouch. These look like they have fixed that problem. I am hoping they have them here in Canada but I don't they they do. I was in the shoe dep last week with my DD and I didn't see them. What fun, and I love the nostalgia it brings to me.

whhhaaatttt ? Wow. I used to wear them as a teenager. But these look really comfortable. The ones we wore were wood. I would get blisters. Why did we do that ? I have heard that the new line of Dr. Scholl's are very comfortable. Thanks for the tip !

Yes Liz ! Those are the ones! Thanks for posting the link!

Adelfa ,I had a pair of the wooden ones too -except I always seemed to half step off of them and ouch! that hurt. Or I'd do the Hit-my-funny-bone on my ankle when turning around. Needless to say they did not get a lot of wear from me.I like these a lot more.

I went to Walmart yesterday to get chips/salsa for VBS snack room and found they had some really cute Dr.Scholl's slide sandals on sale for $9.88 !
They have a cushy rubber sole decent arch support and an adjustible buckle accross the top.I tend to wear a wide shoe so I adjusted it to the next to last hole and wore a pair most of the day today comfortablydespite being on my feet most of the day and having a sore right heel from a probable bone spur.(changed to some wedges for choir practice-dressier and had used a BDay giftcard to get the wedges and wanted to show them off to the friend who gave me the card).

I had my grandmother (whose in her 80's) try them on with the strap adjusted to the tightest hole (she's a 10 1/2-11 4a with a 5a heel) and they seemed to work for her too. The sandals come in a white based leopard, and a multi-color stripe, and yellow, hot pink,chambray-denim blue, and of course black.I got the striped ones, and the leopard, yellow and blue.I thought I'd share as they are extremely affordable and should be widely available. As the sole is rubber and the strap is sort of oilcloth/laminated cloth ,a pair of these would be nice for in a tote bag or car for rain (save the good leather/suedes).Hope this helps!
