Definitely hold out if none of these is thrilling you. I've just recently learned to push my wait time out instead of getting impatient and settling, and I haven't regretted it.

Marley, you ask a great question, that I should remember to ask myself! I don't need a dress right now. I have pencil skirts and blouses, plus I have 6 reasonable dresses with long sleeves. So I would say I want one.

the biggest issue with my current long sleeve dress selection is they are all true wrap style. I only have one long sleeve dress that isn't a wrap. I would like to get away from wearing wrap dresses because they gape at the top unless I tape them down with wardrobe tape. (It works). They also have a v neckline, which is not the most flattering for my long neck.

I may be better off waiting and saving my money until I find something I really love. For whatever reason, none of these dresses are thrilling me. I like the pic 1 dress best, but think I should be able to find something even better.

Gigi, I am not a fan of dry cleaning. I tend to test for color fastness and then hand wash a lot of dry clean items.

I really like #1 as well. Does it matter that it's dry clean? I noticed that two of the dresses were dry clean.

I personally wouldn't buy 2 or 4 right now, because the weather is getting cold and you won't have as much chance to wear them.

I think No 1 would be perfect. Modern classical but easy. You could wear with black tights and boots, or any of the brown shades or even dark red.

I love this colour - it does me no favours but I think it would really suit you.

Good thinking Unfrumped. I didn't look at anything with dolman sleeves. I had my old "pear" mentality when looking. Maybe I should try again with "rectangle" in my mind! Perhaps I need my style words and some extra written cues near by as I evaluate items online.

I like 1 and 2 for necklines, and #1 for having sleeves, though you could wear #2 with a cardigan to extend the season. Even if 3 fit, the scoop neckline is not so good.
Will these be too short on you in your size? I always have a problem with that and sometimes they don't pass sit test even if pass the front view test. If is meant to wear with tights, that helps. You would also look good in some kind of dolman sleeved knit dress, I think. I would consider looking for slightly fluid fits in dresses the same as in knit tops, but that may be harder to get just right.

Number 1, hands down. I can sooo see that dress on you, Staysfit. And it will be a nice warm one for your climate. You can wear a jacket over it in the winter and wear it uncovered in fall and spring. And it should be long enough for you.
The second one is great, too, if you want a dressier look.
I like the last one, but I wonder if it's too short. And sleeveless is limiting, in my opinion.
I don't see the third one as being quite your style. Maybe I'm wrong. It's super casual, so not as versatile as #1.

P.S. I also think #1 is great for dressing up or down and wearing with some of your fabulous arty jewelry.

I still like #1 the best. I was trying to find some alternates to see what was available, not much in this shade of green.

Dianthus, I like the idea of looking for a slightly fuller skirt. I didn't see any in this color. I can widen my color range and look again. I may end up with the sweater dress. It's pricey though.

I also like the first 2 best for you out of this selection. The third looks too body-con for teaching. There is something about the last one, probably the neckline, that makes me hesitate. You would need to try it on. Which style would work best to replace your black dress, since you are replacing?

For you, I like the first two. You have a lovely slim build and the heavier knit in the first one would likely drape beautifully on you and I like the partial peplum detail for you as well. The third one reads a bit casual to me and the fourth a bit more dressy but I do like them both particularly the last one if you have a need for something a bit more formal/dressy.

Have you considered any with a slightly fuller skirt? I was perusing the fall fashions this weekend and saw a number of dresses with wider pleats in stiffer fabrics that I think you could wear if chosen carefully to not overwhelm your small frame.

I have 4 days to go in my No Shop September agreement with my DD. I have been looking for a green dress to replace one of my black dresses that was purged. I am short on dresses now. I do not need anything too fancy, but I would like to be able to wear it to work. I can wear nice jeans in my work place for reference.
