Rejoice in the morning sickness as a sign of a healthy baby, at least that is what some research says. I craved those huge fried pork tenderloin sandwiches and onion rings. Thinking of you.

I am so sorry to hear of your morning sickness, Ledonna. You really have my sympathy. That is the pits. I remember feeling almost trapped when I had morning sickness. I know it's easy for me to say now, but hang in there. Like you said, one day at a time. And as you find yourself getting toward the finish line please be careful with the snow and ice of winter underfoot. Eat as well as you can, including your cravings, and stay hydrated. I'm thinking about you. xo

Awe thank you for sharing your memories some funny and some, great wisdom.

I'm feeling extremely tired of being pregnant. LOL, I'm 29 weeks pregnant now and unfortunately I've had morning sickness for all 3 trimesters. Trying to take it one day at a time.

Journey to motherhood is the most amazing journey I've ever been on. I've had many different lives and I'm hopeful that I'm prepared for this one.

Bijou thank you for your kind words of reassurance and encouragement. Dr's can be somewhat scary and too realistic about over 40 pregnancy. I had to go through 3 Dr's before I thankfully found the right one for me.

Ledonna, I had my son 3 weeks before my 41st birthday, and the pregnancy and delivery went without incident. I do understand your worries about being an older Mum, the doctors cannot help but give you well meant warnings - but really they scared the socks off me too. You and baby nugget are in my prayers... enjoy this time.

You are youthful and energetic and will make a wonderful Mum. Being older does have its upside, I never felt like I was missing out on anything looking after my son, I was just so grateful for the experience.

As for cravings, premium vanilla ice-cream was the top of my list and because I was eating so much of it, my hubby bought me the cheaper low fat stuff (he still does not hear the end of that one)!

I was pregnant three times, and had different cravings with each. With my first, all I wanted was Chinese food. Take-out, frozen, homemade; it didn't matter. I ordered my poor DH out of the house multiple times to fetch me take-out!

With my second, it was shellfish. Shrimp, scallops, crab legs, lobster. DH would buy it at the grocer and make it at home. Even though he won't touch the stuff himself, he became a very good cook of shellfish!

It was not until my last pregnancy, and my only pregnancy with a girl, that I craved sweets. I think I once downed half a box of Ding-Dongs before ordering DH to hide them so I did not eat the rest. But one was not enough; two were not enough... Had health been no consideration whatsoever, I probably could have eaten them until I could no longer physically hold them.

So two pudding cups? You are doing GREAT!

Not exactly a craving, but I often wanted main dishes made with fresh ginger. Ginger is supposed to settle the tummy, so there was a method to my madness I suppose.

Oh, pregnancy cravings! I remember it well. Don't worry too much about the pudding cups -- you only ate two. I would probably have eaten six. :-)

I didn't really have cravings in the third trimester for either of my pregnancies. I had strong ones in the first trimester, and they kind of petered out after the early-pregnancy nausea went away. In fact, it wasn't so much cravings as foods that made me feel less sick to my stomach. With my first pregnancy, I found that cottage cheese and chocolate milk were the only things that took the edge off the nausea. As soon as the nausea hit in my second pregnancy, I went out and bought a big container of cottage cheese, opened it up, sniffed it, and promptly threw up. Dairy clearly wasn't going to work the second time. I tried everything -- all the usual stuff -- crackers, plain rice, etc., with no success. Then one day I went out for dinner with a bunch of friends and had a massive craving for prime rib. And you guessed it -- the nausea abated! I was an unstoppable carnivore for the first half of my second pregnancy.

The funny thing is, my daughter loves all things dairy, and my son loves anything made out of beef. I guess they were letting their dietary preferences be know super early.

During my first pregnancy, I craved watermelon. During my third pregnancy, it was tuna. The weird thing about tuna is that I don't like it, so I don't know why I was eating tuna sandwiches every day for lunch, lol.

Chocolate sounds like a fun craving to have!

Like Emily K I never had cravings. There were certain things that I enjoyed eating more when pregnant - baked potatoes, Taco Bell, honey crisp apples. However, those all things I liked before pregnancy and still like now. I just never got sick of them when I was pregnant. I could have eaten a baked potato for dinner every night and been happy. Now, I wouldn't want a baked potato two nights in a row.

I had really bad heartburn with all my pregnancies and ate Tums like candy. I had bottles stashed everywhere - at work, in the kitchen, near the couch where I watched TV, in the bathroom - just everywhere.

Hi, LeDonna. Early in my pregnancy (before I knew I was pregnant, and right after I found out), I kept craving sour citrus fruits. Not pickles. Grapefruit, etc. I also was pretty nauseous.

Second trimester I think I just enjoyed food. Don't remember any cravings. I mostly ate healthy.

Third trimester was the same. I remember the last two weeks, eating donuts. Not a box, but a few donut holes at this Mr. Donut shop every morning on my way to work. I felt bad about it, but it was the last two weeks. I don't think I did irreparable damage to the baby. She's turned out pretty well.

Nothing very unusual. I was hungry a lot, and I ate lots of weetbix, but that was I did back then anyway.

One unusual habit with my first pregnancy was to wake up hungry in the night. I got heartburn, and the only thing I could eat without getting it afterwards was icecream! I had never eaten plain vanilla icecream much before that (I did put cinnamon on it).

Interestingly, my son never had a sweet tooth as a little kid (he's now 11). The ONLY sweet food he ate until he was five or six was - you guessed it - chocolate milkshake.

The thing that clued me into being pregnant was wanting a nasty fast food hamburger in month 1.5 But that was the last one I wanted. I think the rest of the time my main craving was Haagen Dazs dulce de leche ice cream. I went through a lot of it. My husband I used to joke that she came out the color of that ice cream.

I had NO cravings. None. And I felt so gypped: I really wanted to be able to order my husband to the grocery at all hours of the day or night to procure ice cream, or something. Still disappointed about that. But, maybe the grass is always greener, huh?

Let me share with you a fantastic recipe for Chocolate Pot D'Creme--it's so easy, yet wonderfully rich and dark. Maybe it will knock out the craving...

Combine in a blender, 6 oz. chocolate chips and 1 square of unsweetened baking chocolate, chopped roughly. Scald but do not boil, 1 cup light cream, 2 tablespoons of milk, and a pinch of salt. Pour liquids into the blender and blend until it stops making a lotta noise. Add 4 egg yolks and blend for one minute more. Pour into individual ramekins and chill for an hour. Serve at room temp. with whipped cream.

Unless you are worried about the egg? Although the eggs should be sufficiently cooked by the scalding milk, it's good to be safe. :-)

With DS1 amaretto fudge ice cream. With DS2 steak. And absolutely no red sauce. I even got nauseous looking at pizza commercials. :)

Prayers and good wishes since you shared the news. :)

Lemonade.

And subway turkey sandwiches with lots of black olives (and I have always disliked Subway before pregnancy and after).

Meredith-We just got a membership to Costco and it seems that we are never out of food. That was not a nice thing she said. Sometimes people don't think before they speak. Thank you for the link I love chocolate almond milk. I wonder if I should try it.

Joyce B- Pickles were my 1st craving something about the sweet pickles and vinegar potato chips. Thank you for the reminder about the bag. I watching all these youtube videos on what to pack and feeling a bit overwhelmed. So far just 2 outfits 1 newborn and 1 0-3 months sleepers or

With my first child, it had to be pork...ribs, tenderloin, bbq sammie, bacon, sausage, etc. I gained 40+ pounds. It took about 4 months for the weight to fall off after birth.

With my second child, my world revolved around watermelon. Canteloupe was a distant second. I gained 16 pounds and it took a year(!) to get it off.

Go with your cravings.

Sometimes when you have a craving you just have to scratch the itch! But if you want to see if a healthier alternative will satisfy, this is really good: http://ohsheglows.com/2014/04/.....a-pudding/
But I say enjoy your pudding whether it is healthy or not!

This isn't pregnancy related, but I often crave pickles. Once, while checking out at Costco, a clerk asked, "So, are you pregnant or having a party?" 1) Not cool to ask random strangers if they're pregnant 2) This is Costco, so this enormous jar of pickles is the smallest size in the store 3) Yes, I will eat 1/3 of the jar in one sitting and then hide the evidence from my husband by placing it behind all the tall things in the fridge.

Cravings are fun!
