I really liked the pleat neck, that it wasn’t at all transparent, and that it looked good both under toppers for winter and on its own in summer. But I do have the exact same shell in cobalt.

I’ll be heading to Macy’s at lunch time tomorrow to buy a replacement, as this was my only white top. I’ll see what else they have, but whatever I buy has to meet all of those requirements. Others that look like possible candidates attached.

Thanks Joy, Rachylou, and Katerina.

The white shell in number 3 had an unfortunate encounter with a bowl of chili. After multiple attempts to save it, I sadly had to throw it out. I had been struggling to figure out what my essentials are, and I think this was one of mine. Now I must decide whether to replace it with the exact same thing (it is still in stores and quite affordable) or to look for something new, such as a v neck. White blouses that are not transparent are so hard to find though.

Thanks Mainelady and Dianna. The skirt was a clearance rack score from Express. It was marked down to $15, and luckily I had $15 in rewards that were expiring. So I just had to pay the sales tax!

As always, you look great! I love seeing how you pair teal and burgundy with your darker colors. #1 is a gorgeous outfit with the colors and the pattern and style of the skirt. I hope your new burgundy shoes work for you. I think you will be wearing them a lot!

The Cat - Thanks! I’ve always liked wearing teal, and I’m enjoying the addition of burgundy to my wardrobe. I’m hoping the burgundy heels I ordered will fit in well and be comfortable.

SarahD8 - maybe this will help me branch out into adding more patterns. Do you think the long cardigan would work with the asymmetrical hemline on the skirt?

Sterling - number 1 is my favorite too.

Lynn - it might be the contrast between the white and black. I’ve liked this cardigan and top with grey pants. I do like the silhouette.

Brooklyn - Why am I not surprised that you like the asymmetrical skirt outfit? You might be the inspiration behind that purchase I don’t have any wrap tops, but I’ll keep trying this cardigan with other tops.

Toban - thanks for the necklace suggestions. The chain in number 1 wasn’t adjustable, but I agree that it needed to be shorter. And a long necklace in number 3 would have been great. I need to find one as this is not the only outfit I’ve worn that could have used one.

Torontogirl - thanks! I’m glad you all encouraged me to keep the burgundy sweaters.

Lovely outfits. You look great in blue. I love that you include necklaces in each outfit. I wonder if there's a bit of a mismatch between the necklines and the necklaces? It is hard to tell from a photo, but here are a couple thoughts that I hope you don't mind that I share from my experiences wearing necklaces? In #1, the pendant needs to be a tad shorter. It looks like it's hitting the blouse. It should float in the space. The necklace in #2 might look great with the outfit #1. It is definitely a gorgeous statement piece. In #2, however, it is competing somewhat with the dramatic neckline. I'd suggest moving the necklace from #3 to #2 or wearing something dainty in the nape of your neck with the top in #2. In #3, the necklace is barely visible. Consider wearing something longer and with more heft -- perhaps the necklace from #2. These outfits look lovely as is, these are just a couple tweaks to experiment with. I am absolutely enjoying your 30x30 and your experimenting with business casual attire.

Love the skirt outfit! Good choice. Love the subtle pattern and the asymmetry.
I like the cardigan in 3 a lot. Is it the combination here that doesn’t thrill you? Do you have something like a wrap top that you could wear it with? Sometimes loose fit style cardigans look better over more fitted style tops.
No 2 looks great too. The cowl neck top is very flattering on you.

I really like your outfit in # 1 a lot. The skirt is really great, it adds subtle interest vs a solid skirt.

Why don't you like the teal cardigan? I ask because I really like the silhouettes of your third outfit. For me it is not the pants so much as the white shell with the pants. But I am not one who likes a lot of contrast between my tops and bottoms. Do you have a darker top you could try with the teal topper and black pants? Maybe even the burgundy sweater if you have a scarf or jewelry that would tie the burgundy and teal together. Just a thought.

I really like these looks! The plaid skirt is a nice choice for introducing some subtle pattern and it fits you beautifully.

How about the teal cardi and white shell with the plaid skirt? I think a longer cardi can work nicely with a fitted skirt.

At the end of week 6 I have 26 outfits using 32 pieces of clothing (excluding shoes and scarves and under layers for warmth). While I’ve used 32 pieces total, I’ve retired two pieces, so I’m still at 30 pieces. ish:)

I am aiming for the dressier end of the business casual spectrum, without looking too corporate.

1: Burgundy sweater, plaid pencil skirt. This skirt is new, as I was trying to add more patterned pieces to my wardrobe. I know it isn’t a very bold pattern, but baby steps... I also liked that this skirt had the faux wrap/asymmetrical front.

2: Black blazer, grey boot cut pants, teal cowl neck shell. I don’t like the super drapey cowl with cardigans, and since I wore it last time with my grey blazer, this week it gets paired with black.

3: White pleat neck shell, teal open cardigan, black boot cut pants. This is the third time I’ve worn this cardigan during the challenge, and I still am not completely happy with it. This time I didn’t like the black pants and boots, I should have worn grey pants and heels.

This week I only have three outfits. One day I worked from home due to the weather. I am not counting today’s outfit, which is casual wear. I wasn’t sure if I would be working today or not, and while it turned out that we are working, the vast majority of people dressed down due to the uncertainty, so I think I made the right choice.

As always, any thoughts and suggestions are greatly appreciated!
