Stylefan - I agree you are a Natural too. I possibly could be as well but I think I do lean a little to the dramatic and possibly would like to even more.

I am not a soft natural although I really love this look, but always feel a little washed out, too draped in it.

No need for an apology Sal. I was off the forum for some of the challenge because of the busyness of life.
I struggle with Kibbe for awhile and decided I am a Natural. I lean a bit into Classic but Natural seems best. Not Flamboyant and not soft but just Natural.

Thanks Stylefan! I apologise - your name should have been on the list. I have had fevers/flu for a few days and was a bit vague!!

I am mostly wearing mine too- I did wear a different old wool coat today but 80 percent will not change.

Thanks for the FN validation!!

Sal I think FN works well for you. I can see that in a lot of what you wear. I still keep track of my wardrobe in a handwritten journal. I prefer the physical act of writing to typing. I am not sure that others notice when we wear the same thing over and over. I have not changed my closet now that the challenge is over. I am still wearing the 30 x 30. No particular reason except my summer wardrobe is not that large.

Thanks Sterling for your lovely comments. The numbers do tell me that I do have enough clothes for my needs and climate. And there were days that I changed in the evening, so a wear may not be a whole day.

Thanks Rachylou- rugby is actually fun to photograph. I have done an edit yesterday but at this stage have removed three pieces, and have three to try on and style to see if I should keep or not. The ones removed were a dress that I loved but it was totally worn out, a sweater that I do wear once or twice a year but I just don't like it, and a scarf that I have NEVER worn. I would love to upgrade some boots but unless I see a great sale bargain it will just have to wait.

Joy - you are right, I think most people don't notice. There are environments where it can be more important (or seem more important) to mix things up more - some workplaces can develop this vibe. I think as long as you look well, appropriate and similar to how you usually dress people really don't pay alot of attention.

LaP - thanks, I think I do have it easy for getting my wears high. Our temps are very constant to be honest. We do have frosts and damp foggy winter days, and summer can be blazing and humid and sunny, but many days are mid range.

Hi Sal! Congratulations on your very successful 30 day challenge. I thoroughly enjoyed reading all your posts throughout the challenge. Your insights were so appreciated and I continue to learn from you. I loved your WIWs. Your style is perfectly YOU. How many people can say that?

I adored looking at your spreadsheets, but I respect the fact that daily accounting is not for everyone.

On the difficulty of achieving a reasonable number of wears. THIS is hard. I was certain that I was wearing my 30 items nonstop. If you asked me, I would have told you outright I wore some items nearly every single day. The numbers showed that some items were worn more than others, but no near as often as I would have guessed. AND some of these were my personally defined "workhorses."

I was not aware of Flamboyant Natural but it fits you.
We all probably notice what others wear far less than we think. Same with us. People probably do not notice as much as we think they do. It is probably more of a general perception of style, such as boho or bombshell, colorful or neutrals. Maybe that is why a compliment from someone is so welcomed. They noticed

Yes, I'm with Jenn; ~3 wears per month, for a piece that is seasonally-specific, makes sense as you should hit 30 wears after about 3 years. Items that are multi-season tend to hit the 30 mark more quickly, I find.

I think Flamboyant Natural is great fit for you -- I definitely see FN in these outfits and in your overall style.

Jenn, I should achieve this with most pieces. In this collection probably only the three jackets are truly winter items - the sweater will be worn 9 months of the year, the boots 6-7 months, and sleeved dresses 6-8 months. My faux fur jacket was second hand, but as a true winter piece I need to make sure I really wear it a lot from May-August. I guess that is the lesson. And to be wary about getting too many variations of an item.....

Thanks Emily - some of the camels came out a little warmer than I think they are but I agree with your assessment. I think I am a spring but to me this looks quite an autumnal palette (but I have silver and grey in there too so I am not a purist). I thought of proportioning the colours to the amount of times worn, but then it depends where the colour is. For example an orange clutch is quite different to an orange coat. I guess the essentials (black pants, black tops, jeans) are in navy and black, with a few statement additions including coats and footwear. Black was certainly important for me:)

I find your color spreadsheet interesting. Did you learn anything new from this step? I can see that it seems you prefer a slightly warm spectrum of color with fairly vivid brights (but that might just be the excel talking).

I suspect I'll have more to add later, but I wanted to pop in before I go to bed to say that I think 3-5 wears a month is perfect if you're aiming for 30 wears. If I remember right, we have similar-sized wardrobes, and I expect most items to last at least 2-3 years. Three months of three wears/month is right around the 30-wear mark after three years. I'll be thrilled if my summer 2017 purchases are in the 10-15 wear category by September.

Joy, nobody noticed at all - but my workplace is full of men, and at sports events there is a lot of repeating. I saw the same people every day and did not notice what they wore .

There are a few pieces I want to wear now and will seize my chances (it is rainy and we all have colds so there is not much happening except hunkering down right now), There are one or two pieces I would like to upgrade (black boots and handbag and sunglasses) and there a few pieces I will wear and see if they work.

I also think it is okay to have a few pieces that are only worn occasionally - they are sunk costs now. I just don't want to add too many more of these!!

Sal, you did an amazing job with this challenge with all your activities.
I enjoyed seeing your charts and the great action shots of rugby. Like Jenni, mine are handwritten with slash marks. My final post got long, so I didn't comment on number of wears, but getting to 30 in any one season, even with lots of repeating outfits, would be very difficult.
Did anyone who was not told about the challenge notice? No one said anything to me and I had not mentioned to anyone what I was doing.
Will you be making an effort to wear those pieces listed in #2 as not part of your capsule?

Thanks Emily. That is how I feel.

Thanks Jenni - yes rugby is very physical and scary at times. He loves it though and there are good things about it too. I obviously favour wearing my new stuff don't I - I have three other new winter items that were not included in the 30. I find I get two to three years from most items of casual wear (sweaters, jeans) but a lot more from coats, occasion wear and some footwear. I note a mistake too - my grey stripe sweater was from 2011 or 2012, I can't remember which!!

Oh I love your charts! Mine are still handwritten as I am too slack to bother typing. It is really interesting the spread of your dates. I have a few things from 2008/9/10 but more from 13/14/15/16. You have more new things due to my space constraints and overflowing wardrobe causing me to slow my shopping. I agree it's hard to wear clothing 30 times. I'm still working on it.
Glad your boy has that headgear. It looks scary what he's doing there. My boy was a soccer player not rugby.

Firstly thanks to Sterling, Srah, La Pedestrienne, RunCarla, Emily, Joy, Stylefan and Kellygirl (have I forgotten anyone?) I have enjoyed this challenge and had fun with fashion.

Well I ended with a stumble. I don't have pics from the last ten days. Activities involved:

seven days at a rugby tournament

work inspersed with above

a night out at the movies

a Bastille Day French meal out

two days at the beach

I stuck within the capsule with lots of casual wear mostly and repeats for the nights out. While much of it was not high fashion I kept warm and I think was appropriately dressed. On one day I was the only person in a group of 12 not in a black puffer jacket LOL!!

I have attached lists with some data and have made up a colour palette too based on what I wore. I am not sure what season it looks like!! It was just in excel so the metallic options are not great and silver shoes, pewter hitops formed an important part of my style.

Lessons:
1) I was very happy with what I had to wear. There were a couple of days I would have chosen other options if I was not doing the challenge.
2) Most of my winter closet was included - not included are two pairs of jeans, one pair of pants, four sweaters, two coats, two pairs of boots, two leather jackets, two long sleeve tops, one blazer and three skirts (plus trans-seasonal gear such as blouses and tees). I only missed one skirt, one pair of boots and the coats.
3) I will post about some of these other pieces - I may remove a couple of them and look to upgrade one or two of them over time as well.
4) Of course I wore other things that are not recorded - a raincoat, rainboots, socks etc...and I wore a lot of accessories.
5) This challenge reinforced the role of accessories in my (and most others) style. I used the same bag for work days. I swapped in clutches for nights out. I wore sunglasses frequently as well as scarves, necklaces and earrings. I am pleased this challenge helped me develop a few new options.
6) If I had to be in a professional work setting every day it would be harder...given my varied mix of activities it makes it easier.
7) Priorities for shopping include a new bag, a replacement of a pair of aging sunglasses (I like to have two pairs) and some new pants or jeans.
8) I diagnosed myself as a Kibbe Flamboyant Natural and it feels just right for me. Long lines, texture, natural hair, bold accessories, use of colour, not too tight and not too structured. I have been trying for Bold Elegance for a while and this feels in keeping with this. I am aware I do not always achieve this :)
9) I didn't love the recording part of the challenge but it was okay for a month. I won't track on an ongoing basis.
10) If we are aiming for 30 wears per item it is not that easy to achieve for many pieces. For example even tops I felt like I wore heavily were only worn 5 times.
