I *still* don’t know what to say. What a bold choice she made to say that! I can only think one thing even remotely close that’s ever been said to me; I had a suede mini skirt and a suede midi skirt that I styled fairly similarly—lots of cream, brown ankle boots with the mini (schoolgirl look) and similarly-colored tall boots with the long skirt. One day when I had the midi on, a guy whose office was on the same floor as mine got on the elevator, looked at my bottom half and said “you like to keep us guessing, huh?” I didn’t know what he meant, so he pointed out the difference in length and reminded me that I’d worn the mini a couple days earlier. Weirdo. </p> <p>If I could still wear that skirt, I would (but probably not to work). I’m sorry to hear you’ve given up an entire type of clothing because of buffoons.<br /> Btw, skirts right at the knee and pencil schools are not good for me—they make my knock knees glaringly obvious. </p> <p><b>Shevia, Katerina, La Ped, </b>, thank you for your comments on the color. That seems to be what I wind up doing whenever I start out trying to mix patterns. I’ve probably only worn the sweater 4-5 times, even though I’ve had it that many years. The skirt is newer and still had tags. I wasn’t sure it had enough green to pick up the pullover’s color, or that the cardi was really a match color-wise, so I’m glad the overall effect works. </p> <p>Now I just have to get the cardi back from my son I went to check on him when I got home, took it off in his room and left it there. It can be so hard to go against an environmental norms, even if, internally, what you're doing feels right. I also prefer skirts above the knee. Longer skirts are hard for me to style because they can make my lower legs look chunky. So I pulled in this skirt to add pattern. What’s the first thing I wore it with? Big sigh! </p> <p>The green cotton sweater is what I would have worn with the bootcuts, if they had been pants instead of leggings. I wanted to wear my silver necklace, but the clasp is broken. The pattern is detail of the skirt. It’s corduroy. I have on navy tights and the Clark boots from yesterday. It’s in the 40s, so no overcoat, just the Nic &amp; Zoe cardigan. </p> <p>I was almost ready to go out when my son took these pix. Added a swipe of red lip gloss and away I went. </p> <p>What do you think? I’d love comments and suggestions. </p>
