I love the second outfit, it's an absolute winner. The first outfit however, I think is a little "off" because the sweater is too long for that length of skirt in my opinion. I just think the houndstooth skirt and the pink sweater are each beautiful on you, but need to be put in separate outfits.

Thank you very much, everyone, for your encouraging and helpful comments! I felt good in the second outfit. Unlike some Fabbers, I love cardigans and reach for them often. It has to be the right cardi, though; there certainly are some frumpifying cardigans around!

Re the pink sweater and houndstooth skirt--I'm feeling self-conscious about tucking tops these days. I have a little tummy, but worse (I think) are my hips. My figure has changed in the last five years; I used to be thin, and then my hips...shall we say...became more prominent. And of course they are the last thing to reduce when I lose weight. Anyway, I worry that when I tuck, my hips and tummy look big.

That houndstooth skirt is very forgiving, though, so I'm going to try the fuchsia sweater with it again, tucked. I realize now that the outfit proportions were off with the wide belt. Again, I appreciate everyone's kindness in helping me figure out didn't work about that outfit!

Such great comments. I don't feel I can actually add anything. I do want to say I love Number 2 for all the reasons already mentioned. I think the pink and houndstooth should be just as fabulous, but something is throwing the eye off. I noticed several suggestions from other Forum Members; but I think it might be the thickness of the belt. I can't help but wonder if a thinner belt wouldn't pull all the proportions together.

I like both your outfits! My favourite is the second one - it is great on you, the colours are perfect and the necklace is cool. I like the fuchsia sweater - so nice and joyful colour on you! You look very pretty.

I love #2 -- love it so much I went to look at the v-neck cardigans, and I've mostly sworn off cardis! It just looks so good on you.

I would like to see #1 with the sweater tucked, no belt, and a scarf or necklace. I love the pink and houndstooth together, but I think getting the proportions right will take some more experimentation (skirts are such a challenge!).

I prefer outfit 2 as a whole, but love the bright pink color on you. What didn’t you like about the sweater tucked in? Would wearing the wide belt over the tucked in sweater/ skirt combination work?

And it felt so warm yesterday, even tough it was just above freezing. I can’t wait for Thursday and Friday here. I won’t need to wear my long puffer!

You are doing a fabulous job with your 30X30. I like both your outfits. You are doing a great job with your 30X30 pieces. Like Shevia, my favorite is your second outfit but the first feels classic.

The second outfit is terrific! I like the idea of the belt with the first but somehow want the skirt to be longer with the long sweater. I would like to see the pink sweater and belt with the ponte pants, thinking capsule wise!

I wore the first outfit for church on Sunday. The sweater felt a little frumpy with the skirt, and I wanted some waist definition, so I tried tucking the sweater. I didn't like that, so I ended up wearing the wide belt pictured. (Neither of my other black belts worked--one was too narrow; the other buckles below the waist.). Is the wide belt okay, or should I have just left the sweater untucked and unbelted?

I wore the second outfit to work today. Same ponte pant/grey boots combo as I wore last week, but this time with a Halogen spruce green cardigan. I debated if the outfit needed a scarf but decided to wear a necklace instead to celebrate that the temperature was in double digits instead of single. I'm scalped in these pictures--yikes!

So far, I've used 8 capsule items in the outfits I've posted on YLF. I've worn 4 other capsule pieces in two outfits I didn't post. If I included footwear and accessories in my 30, I'd be through most of my 30 pieces already!

I'm becoming aware of a lack of under layers such as long-sleeved tees. I could definitely use two or three of those, including one in a pattern such as a black and white stripe.
