Beth Ann - I sized up in the skirt as I felt like it would be more forgiving and work appropriate (I do have a relatively casual workplace) that way. The skirt is still on sale at Nordstrom and also on Amazon.

Celia, I totally hear you on the art. While I haven't moved between countries, let alone continents, having something pretty and familiar to follow me to my new home makes me feel like the settling-in process isn't quite as jarring.

Inge, I feel like I'm all energy right now. Moving and packing is SUCH a pain - but I can't really pack too much more right now, because we still need to live here for another week before we move everything out. I'm just antsy to get the tedious part over with! So, a physical art project was a good way to wear off some of that nervous energy.

Angie, I'm so glad that I ended up keeping that midi dress. A happy accident!

Thank you all!

Kari, when you've found a winning formula, why mess with it? These are all gorgeous. And I LOVE your art project idea, too! Clever you. Your new place is going to look great.

I keep squealing with delight every time I see you in that first outfit, Kari. It is so so stunning!! Love the other two as well. You've really found some beautiful dresses this Summer, and I love how you are having fun with bright-coloured and patterned footwear!!

Also: I'm so impressed that you have the energy to put up these lovely posters while in the middle of a move! A super idea, empty walls, boxes and piles of stuff everywhere, it really does have an influence on one's mood, so hurrah for having something happy to look at it.

Kari, these are just knockout. I love your strong use of color, and things coordinate but don't come off matchy-matchy.

You look fabulous as always. Your outfits are always a ray of sunlight.
Interesting what makes each person feel calm. For me the simply fact that there were non empty spaces would drive me crazy. And yes, the two paintings I brought from Portugal make the house feel more my home.
Great arts and crafts work.

Love the outfits and the coordinating diy art! Gotta love a girl who can decoupage!

That Vince Camuto skirt is wonderful for you. I looked for it yesterday at Macy's, but, alas, I don't think it would be so work appropriate in a size small!

Thank you, Claire! That is my hope - it will make it much easier to be able to hang my art up right away, and having familiar art and photos up on the walls always makes me feel like I'm right at home.

So pretty! *waving at Lady Mustard* I love your idea for the orphaned earring. It's the perfect touch to that outfit. The pocket watch necklace is really stellar on that graphic midi, too. And somehow the colors of your DIY project don't surprise me one bit. Very, very Kari! Love! And you will have something nice to hang right away in your new place too. Cheers!

While I still have a pretty robust closet at my disposal, later this week I'll be packing up much of my clothes in preparation for the move (infrequently used/out of season things are already boxed up.) We have a plethora of boxes lining the perimeter of our living and dining room, books and DVDs are put away, and most of our art is off the walls... which means that much of my calming influences are out of sight, and I'm left to the devices of my closet.

So as usual, I'm reverting to my favorite formulas of the summer: light knit dress or knit skirt/floaty blouse, low pumps, and statement necklace.

#1-3: Emerald knit pencil skirt (which I was happy to see in the YLF store!), emerald/citron/black banded blouse, black and white low dalmatian pumps, aqua earring disconnected from its finding and hung on a chain.

#4-6: Yellow, gray, and cream ikat print knit dress; turquoise beaded necklace, aqua pumps

#7-9: Blue/gray/tan abstract patterned midi dress, low leopard print pumps, bronze pocketwatch necklace.

I needed to look at something pretty and soothing while our walls are bare, and since I've packed nearly everything that will fit for our first move this weekend, I decided that a small art project was in order. I have these colorful posters and Art Deco ads, some of which are cut out from an old vintage ad calendar. Simply pinning them to the wall feels sloppy and too much like college decor, so they have been sitting around in our current unit. An arts and crafts store had a sale on stretched canvas, so I picked some up in different sizes along with decoupage paint and stuck a dozen of my favorite prints to canvas. They aren't perfect - the thicker papers definitely look smoother on the canvas - but it's a big improvement over simply using tiny straight pins, and meant that I got to stare at pretty colors all afternoon (see #10.)
