I am not crazy about Pantone's choice. I like light neutrals, and I appreciate that some people really need or prefer them. It's just not my best everyday, abundant neutral.

A couple years ago I wore a decent amount of cream. I'm now down to a cream dress and chiffon blouse, and I'm barely wearing those. Color or deeper neutrals seem to work better for me. My winter wardrobe is a mix of greens warm and cool, plums, wines, burnt orange, turmeric yellow, chocolate and camel.

For summer, I switch to greens, some warm blues, warm peaches and corals, and orchid, with occasional spicy red. This is the season I'll add in some cream or off white and navy as neutrals.

Like Irina, I find myself committed to a core color palette, mine is green, brown, and denim blues, and some golds or cream for contrast. It’s all pretty muted and I have two bright white shirts still, which I haven’t worn in a while.
Recently it’s rich muted pinks and plums which attract me, and I think that will continue. I don’t have much orange for winter, but pink and burgundy tops feel nice with the browns and greens.
There was a New Yorker article years ago, about a woman who left her (presumably messy!) family and moved into a totally white apartment, wore only white clothing, and kept this to this very committed and artistic assertion of self till she died. I think they preserved the rooms.
Talk about a palette cleanse!

I, too, don't mind the Pantone color of the year. Color is always intriguing, even the near-whites. Would love to see what designers do with it in interiors, etc.

I have never thought of a color of the year for myself, or even just focusing on one color. Aside from knowing some basic colors that work, I don't really seek things out.

I like to think what colors might come up in fashion soon, and I think:
carnelian or blood red
amber
periwinkle
seaweed green
midnight taupe (I invented that...I mean dark taupe.)

It's so interesting what colors attract us, isn't it? And some that repel us too! It can be so visceral, and instantaneous. Cream pants are a recent and much appreciated wardrobe addition in the last couple of years, going so well with the mostly neutral clothing I own. I also got very into green, a dark forest green and bought three items in varying shades/hues of that color. I think for the new year I'd like to have a bit more adventure with color...within reason of course !

White was my colour of the year in 2025, and I did in fact purchase and wear white. But white is my core light neutral anyway. For. me it is both "palate cleanser" as you so cleverly put it, and also partial bookender -- or at least cohesion-builder, because it harmonizes with the front of my hair (the back is darker).

I have not yet decided on a colour of the year for 2026 -- often for me this is choice is more about my emotional life than my wardrobe. Though sometimes there is strong overlap.

At this time of year -- from the last week of November until the first week of January -- I focus on my reds. I love wearing red in the winter and red gives my energy a much needed boost in the depths of winter. I am so glad to have built a red capsule. I do include my dark cranberry (near to burgundy) in this capsule, and this year I have been wearing more tonal all-red outfits. Unfortunately I have not taken a lot of photos. :(

I did not include my summer-only reds in this set of Finds, but the truth is, there are few of those -- red for me is mostly a winter colour with my dark cranberry taking over in fall and spring (for the most part).

I’ve always liked cream and white, but I’m always afraid of spots and stains. So most of my items are relatively “hardy” - tees, a super chunky cabled sweater. And a splurge on one cream handbag.

I usually don’t add lots of colors to my grey/khaki/olive daily wardrobe other than a bit of orange. Added a big fluffy lilac sweater last year - just wore it for the first time last week with olive/camo cargos and really enjoyed it!

I have been attracted to less bold but more interesting colors lately - so off brown, off green, off red rather than off white. Color trends don't make that much sense to me, but I can't deny there is a certain look to some color combinations that make me immediately think of particular decades.

White or cream items take up very little room in my closet, but the items I do have - pull their weight. I added 3 new items this year (see Finds below). I can see white or cream working for you very well, but maybe more in warm weather. Sloppy City streets would be a challenge!

My three ‘wantsies’ at the moment are a burgundy sweater, a bag to match my new toffee loafers, and a plaid or tweed cloth coat. If I stumbled over a toffee suede jacket whilst thrifting - it might come home with me, too!

My core colours are mostly your typical cool neutrals, navy, muted blues, greys yet I do like white but it has to be a slight off-white and nothing too warm or bright.

Black is still prevalent in my wardrobe but I have to be careful how I wear it especially near my face where it can be too harsh.

I'm enjoying the addition of burgundy into my colour palette lately, so I'd say that's my choice for 2026. I really love how well it pairs with my neutrals, however, that's about as bold as I want to go these days.

I agree that a pair of jeans , a shirt and loafers or flats makes a great outfit ……on those that look good in those pieces . I find white shirts the most difficult item to shop for , wear and care for . Not worth the effort now .
I also hear you on burgundy being a conservative colour ( like navy ) ….and I’m surprising myself by being attracted to it this past year . I think it’s all in How you wear and style it .

And I appreciate your choice of words in “ cutting the noise “ . It’s something I’ve been thinking about too and in fact have a post percolating in my mind for when I have some time to sit down and articulate it . Experimenting with colour may be ok for some people but I now trust my instincts enough not to fall for colour trends or a store display that might be attractive and lure me into buying something in a colour I don’t want to wear .

Well, we are all different :)
Cream and white are among my favorite colors. It helps me to cleanse the pallet, so to speak. I still think that a white shirt, a pair of jeans and loafers/flats is one of the best outfits ever.
Re: burgundy. I added a couple of tops this year, just for a change. I don’t usually follow color trends. They have no longevity in my wardrobe unless it’s in my pallet. I consider burgundy to be one of conservative colors, like some people find navy to be one. So, no plans for it. I want to cut the noise - in colors and clothes that are not in my style.

My focus hasn’t been on color, but on an unexpected availability of fun accessories, tights and socks. I hadn’t seen belts in anything other than black, navy or tan in a long time. I picked up a reversible olive and eggplant and a fun brown with an interesting buckle. I had been doing the equivalent of a five year long pan out with my tights and socks. This year Hue had just the tights I wanted and Cole Haan the socks. And I snagged a couple of low key metallic wristlets to take the place of five more fussy evening bags that were really tired. I have another pair of boots on my list, but otherwise don’t really need anything. At the end of Winter I’m sure I will have some gaps.

I like white and off-white just fine (not too cream-toned for me, in general), but it’s not exciting to me. I’ve never seen much issue finding white items at retail, so its status as color of the year seems fairly meaningless to me as far as style goes.

I’m enjoying the resurgence of burgundy, and I like that greens besides olive seem to have made a bit of a comeback as well. I’m even enjoying seeing a bit more brown, and have added one brown piece to my wardrobe. I would love to see a good plum or eggplant color return too. No Barney purple, thanks.

My palette stays pretty consistent through the years, with slight variations here and there. I doubt I’ll stray much from my established colors in the coming year.

I’m not a fan of most colours on me. I like white and cream and am looking for a pair of barrel cream jeans which is a difficult search due to my short stature. I bought a cream coat which I have worn a few times and a cream jumper. I added some cognac this year which was a big change for me from my usual black. I hope that white/ cream clothes will be more widely available now that it’s the colour for the year.

Cream and white are not really a favourite for me and only recently I am a little drawn to cream, specifically for tops and not for winter. This winter I am leaning heavily into neutrals of black, navy, grey and when I feel like lightening it up a bit I add a burgundy or camel piece . I'm really enjoying this tight palette. I could get dressed in the dark and my outfit would be ok :). I recently saw a wardrobe on the Vivienne Files of all shades of greens and blues with cream. It really made an impression on me. I may do something similar for the coming warmer months but go lightly with the cream and add a small amount of rust. Black is always a staple for me to include too.

There are colours that interest me now (burgundy among them) - but only in passing as I'm not really looking to build out my wardrobe in any way right now - or going forward for that matter. I'm with JAileen in that white/cream are fine, but nothing special to me . I have what I need (a few white t-shirts for layering under sweaters and sweatshirts , a pair of jeans ,a couple of bags ,and some white and cream footwear) and would only replace rather than add. I've got seasonal shopping fatigue and "stuff overload" right now . I have not been wearing any of my gray sweaters this winter, which is interesting to me as they have been my staples/workhorses for years and years. I would like my wardrobe to sift itself out for awhile - see what really sticks.

White or cream are okay colors, but nothing to write home about, for me. I’m glad they work for others. I don’t have Angie’s magic WRT white pants. The color I seem to be seeking out is a muddy olive green. Janet posted a picture of an argyle sweater with colors I just loved. If it weren’t a vintage piece, I would definitely be seeking it out.

I don’t typically crave a lot of color in the winter, and even tend to back off some of my other neutrals, like navy, mustard, and forest green/olive.

This season I’m relying on the burgundy pieces I have that add enough color to satisfy me. I’m feeling especially comforted by my charcoal grays, oyster whites, and dark browns.

There is so much controversy about the Cloud Dancer, the 2026 Pantone’s choice of color for 2026.
White (cream) is one of my core colors and I enjoy wearing it. The conversion about whites actually inspired me to check my 2025 purchase. And I found that I bought only two cream items - a shirt and a replacement pair of jeans. Feels like it’s time to put my attention towards adding whites. A white summer dress and a top have been on my wish list for a while. A cream tote would be great, too. So, I support the Payton’s choice :)
I don’t really crave color in my wardrobe aside from some weeks at the end of a winter. But I like to add a few items here and there. I purchased some brown and burgundy items this year. The rest was in neutral colors and black. Maybe because I got more color this year, I don’t feel inspired to add more. At least for now. I will reassess in the summer.

Have you thought about your color of 2026? What inspires you?
