There’s Too-Ticky, sitting by the water in her striped jersey, all observational equanimity and practicality, looking out for the invisible shrews and anyone else who drops by. And then there’s Little My, with her short dress, hair scraped up in a bun, taking her warmth in a shoebox where she can find it and biting people on the ankle when they displease her. My IoT scale says I’m 10 pounds up from last year. Spotify knows I love Florence and Beyoncé. DuoLingo is slightly impressed with my diligence. </p> <p>I have two sweaters, boots of Spanish leather and a satin skirt I adore that exemplify my Selfish Violet words for the past year (also left behind a perfectly lovely yet needy man in service of the same mantra) and beyond that, am looking at a credit card bill that attests to some misguided attempts to buy into oversized and wide on a frame that’s more playhouse than skyscraper. I’m looking at you, green Tibi sweater. There may be photos to come. </p> <p>Next year, I’m thinking small, vicious and austere. </p>
