I love that you leaned into destructed jeans, high tops and hoodies -- after a lifetime of conforming to office dress codes, I love the idea of finally being able to justify a larger collection of fun casual items.  Interesting point about scarves. I don't wear them around the house either, but (like Suz) I do wear them with outerwear in fall, winter, and spring to add both warmth and colour. I love their capacity to tie a look together. I have a HUGE weakness for colourful scarves, and thus a rather huge collection. I really have to restrain myself!! Here's to feeling "as bouncy as Tigger" through 2022 and beyond! I spy a fellow lover of bright colours Personally, I still can't wrap my head around hoodies (no pun intended lol) - I get the practical element of having the option to cover your head when it's cold or raining, but wouldn't you rather wear something waterproof instead in that case? Maybe I'm just overthinking it (nothing new there!) but if it works for you, then milk it! As a fellow scarf hoarder, the game changer for me has been double magnets. They're essentially two round circles - one worn above your clothing & one underneath the scarf & top. I find they help me to be able to just throw on a scarf & adjust it to wherever I like, instead of having to worry about things like gravity, hiding safety pins in between the folds & accidentally snagging my clothes. Now I'll wear one just as is, without knots. But I LOVE the length and the wash and the open hem. Nordstrom carries the brand, though I went to the Jag website for mine as Nordstrom didn't have the right size. But inside? Feh. Just in the way. That does create a problem though when it comes to making an outfit interesting.  I love the look of those Jag wide legs. I'm still on my denim hunt so would love to hear more about them!  I also wear a lot of hoodies -- they're really my loungewear.  Such a shame about Dress for Success. Even our local library still isn't taking book donations. It was hard for me to give up on work clothes--blazers etc. I congratulate you for doing so well in adjusting clothing to your new life.  I do enjoy these year-end analyses. I'll try to keep mine a reasonable length. TL; DR, I embraced tomboy looks this year; hoodies, sneaks, denim, but kept wearing my "nice" items whenever I felt like it. I retired (as planned) in July 2021. The previous two years I had tried not to buy anything that I could only wear to work - no blazers, no pumps, etc. I started weeding my closet with hopes of making big donations to Dress for Success. I had a lot of good quality work wear and I'm a 12-14-16, which is very useful for them. But alas, they still are not taking physical donations, so I put them on a monthly $$ donation plan instead. All those pretty blazers and skirts and dresses. *sigh* I gave away my heavier or fancier necklaces to work friends (this was fun!). I never wear them at home. Jewelry in retirement means earrings and watches and rings. I beefed up my exercise wear with Title Nine, Athleta, lap suits, and proper shoes for hot and cold hiking. Good gear is expensive! I wore casual dresses and denim shorts all summer, no change there. In cooler weather, I wear anything I like that is comfortable,  "dressy" or not.  Why not wear a fake fur to the library?! they know me there.  A couple of fails; pants that were really too tight in the waist. They looked great, but were annoying after an hour or two. They're still in my closet, but just for going out, not all day wear. Another fail; having a million scarves. I don't wear these around the house (like those necklaces) and will probably have to weed some more soon. At least I didn't buy more in the last two years. The successes; my Ecco high tops in black and in white. The perfect fall shoe. Lighter and more comfortable than boots, plus they make me feel as bouncy as Tigger. Fun denim! I bought overalls, wide-legs, and destroyed jeans this year, and wear them often. Wide-leg pants in general, really, I found myself suddenly annoyed with skinny pants.  Hoodies! I bought three this year. So soft, comfortable, and they keep my neck warm. Perfect after swimming.
