When I talk about essentials replacements, I specifically mean replacing items on a list I honed in advance. I update the list about once a year or so, but it stays pretty consistent. Those replacements can be refreshers, though. This year, I changed the shape of my cropped jeans, altered my summer sandals style, and replaced my brown AllBirds sneakers with white Cariumas. If I get anything&nbsp;<i>not&nbsp;</i>on this list, it falls into the SSE category. I usually count doubles and triples of things on the list--I'm looking at you, graphic tees--as splurges too.</p> <p><b>Janet, </b>I agree that our influences intersect even while we have very different styles. On Joni Mitchell...I think what I like about those 60s musicians is the juxtaposition of the natural/hippie look with the glam.
