Seeing it is all planned including having bought a bottle of Creme de Violette for the cocktails it seems a shame not to do it some time this year. As we are the first country to celebrate New Year each year it would be difficult to do some other country’s one. But if I encourage any other Fabbers to have themed birthday parties then that will be great!<br /> In the end the first birthday celebration was two days before the birthday- lockdown had just started but at that “Level” we had DD2 and her partner, who live next door, in our “bubble” so we had a dinner with them, on the actual birthday DH cooked a beautiful roast chicken, and it has continued from there for almost a month what with some late gifts due to postal delays arriving only this week. I feel well celebrated.<br /> Glad you enjoyed the hotel pics Bijou! So festive and fab! </p> <p>I’ve never had a themed birthday party but it seems like it would be fun. We once hosted a summer pool party themed for the last season of the TV show Treme, which we really enjoyed (a drama about post-Katrina era New Orleans — really excellent writing and acting, and the music!). Served gumbo and had some friends in a jazz combo play live in our backyard. It was so much fun. </p> <p>We also hosted a quirky “New Years in Iceland” party one year — ringing in the new year on Icelandic time so even friends who normally don’t stay awake past 10pm would come celebrate (Reykjavik is four hours ahead of us). It was a blast and ended up being a very long night as many people prevailed to ring in the new year at 9pm but lingered past our actual midnight.
