<p>2020 was the ultimate test of a Style Statement and adjectives. &nbsp;The fact that yours remained relevant through your incredibly challenging year shows how well chosen they are. &nbsp;The culling you did hones your style even further.<div><br /></div><div>I share your dislike of dropped shoulders—many, many tops, sweaters, and dresses have been instantly ruled out from consideration because of that feature. &nbsp;And I, too, am wearing my grey hair longer, at least for now. &nbsp;I love the feel of some length. &nbsp;Honestly, the jury is still out on whether it’s my best length; short styles work well on me. &nbsp;But I want to keep experimenting for a while. &nbsp;</div><div><br /></div><div>I hope that 2021 is a better year for you.</div>

<p>Such a great example of how following rules—the right set of rules, carefully made and adjusted—can lead to being carefree and enjoyment.<br />
Who does like dropped shoulders? Not me. Maybe they were a response to the overkill of 80s shoulder pads.

<p>Suz, I find myself racing up and down stairs more often when I work at home. &nbsp;Shoes with good support and good grip have been my favorites. &nbsp; I learned a lesson in March 2020 when I slipped on the stairwell (wearing socks)&nbsp;and injured my wrist.....hardwood floors are slippery! &nbsp;&nbsp;</p>
<div><br /></div><div>Joy, it has&nbsp;been annoyingly difficult to find items without dropped shoulders this year!
</p>
<p>Bijou, Rachy, Minaminu, Torontogirl.....thanks! &nbsp;</p>
</div><div><br /></div><div>Kkards, I understand your need for more outdoor gear and cold weather gear. &nbsp;I have an ample supply on hand since I have previously&nbsp;participated in daily outdoor activities. &nbsp;</div><div><br /></div><div>Runcarla, I mostly leave my hair loose and natural. It either is curly or wavy or some combo. Sometimes I pin up a small section on only one side. &nbsp;I have tried French braiding, and a low ponytail with loose hair fronds on the side. &nbsp;I’m still experimenting, and it’s fun. &nbsp;How about you? &nbsp;Have you found any ways to style your hair that you prefer? &nbsp;<br /></div><div><br /></div><div>&nbsp;I have to be mindful of the order in which I use styling products. &nbsp;Leave in conditioner before hair gel. &nbsp;If I forget, my hair gets frizzy and my curls don’t hold. &nbsp;Using a hair diffuser also creates too much volume and frizz. &nbsp;I’m still exploring various iterations of hair products to figure out the best options.</p>
<p>Angie, thanks so much! &nbsp;Yes to SIMPAT style! &nbsp;I love your turquoise capsule, &nbsp;It’s my&nbsp;favorite color! &nbsp;<br /></div><div><br /></div><div><br /></div><div>

<p>You did a lot of work in 2019, and it sounds like you’ve continued to refine your style further in 2020. &nbsp;That Veronica Beard suit sounds divine. &nbsp;Are you wearing your hair loose or styling it up? Leaving it naturally curly or styling it out? &nbsp;I believe we have similar hair, and have undertaken parallel hair projects!

<p>Staysfit, it's inspiring how well you cope with all the stress and difficulties of 2020 and still managed to cull your wardrobe to streamline your style, a wardrobe that reduces the stress and reflects your persona can be very comforting.<br />

<p>It sounds like you are in a good place. I wondered what your favorite silhouette is and you answered that question. I was nodding along with your take on well defined shoulders and refuse to buy anything with dropped shoulder seams. I suspect these items will fill clearance racks soon.

<p><b>Staysfit,</b> you are an inspiration. You have had such an incredibly stressful year in a year when most of us faced stress, and still you are Genuine Composed to your core. WOW.&nbsp;</p>
<p>How fabulous that you were able to sort out. your wardrobe preferences before being faced by this doozy of a year. It sounds as if everything is in good order and you are prepared to move forward, looking sleeker and more pulled together than ever. I love your silhouettes (those are among my favourites, too) and was nodding along with.you decision not to wear slippers during working hours. There is something about supportive footwear that can help to ground us in this time, even if we're just indoors.&nbsp;

<p>uncertainty, unexpected events, unpredictability, a pandemic. &nbsp;<br /><div><br />When dealing with unprecedented changes and stress, it has given me some comfort to feel satisfied with my personal style and wardrobe. &nbsp;Daily routines changed unpredictably but I maintained control over my clothing choices. &nbsp;My style statement: Genuine Composed works well, as do my style adjectives: &nbsp;Fresh, Classic, Sleek, Practical, Light. &nbsp;My 2019 Align consultation (Mysterious type), helped me understand the lines, designs and textures that best complement my features.&nbsp; I can add a few pieces to keep my looks updated, but my style preferences remain consistent. &nbsp;<br /></div><div><br /></div><div>Working at home creates less need to dress for outdoor weather conditions. I have little need for winter boots or warm sweaters. &nbsp;I have relaxed the formality of my weekday wardrobe by wearing fewer dresses, no trousers, mostly jeans. The shift has included wearing fewer necklaces, no scarves, no bangles, larger earrings and sneakers. &nbsp;I do not wear slippers during work hours. &nbsp;I wear more&nbsp;solids and neutrals and fewer colors or patterns than in the past. I need less variety and feel happiest in a few favorite silhouettes.</p>
<p>I have culled wardrobe items that do not fit my style persona. &nbsp;I gave away shoes with heels &gt;3”. &nbsp;I gave away sweaters, tops and jackets that were not “sleek”. &nbsp;I gave away all cropped and peplum tops. &nbsp;I have culled almost all a-line dresses and skirts. My tolerance for oversized items has diminished. &nbsp;A fluid fit is fine, but not anything baggy on my torso or my arms. &nbsp; &nbsp;I have started to pay attention to proportions. &nbsp;I prefer well defined shoulders, structure not slouch. &nbsp;I have been picky about neck lines and collars. &nbsp;I culled all but my favorite makeup, and particularly enjoy my lipstick. &nbsp;I have decreased the number of eyeglass frames I wear on rotation.</div><div><br /></div><div>2020 allowed me to focus on using what I have. Most purchases&nbsp;replaced&nbsp;basics like bras, pajamas,&nbsp;and exercise gear. My most expensive purchase was a Tumi rolling briefcase. &nbsp;My favorite purchase this year was a turquoise/teal Veronica Beard long length blazer and matching trousers.</p>
<p></div><div>My two favorite silhouettes: 1. turtleneck and jeans, statement shoes or sneakers. 2.&nbsp;A Blazer over a camisole top and jeans with statement shoes or sneakers. &nbsp;<br /></div><div><br /></div><div>At the end of 2019 I decided to let my pixie length hair get longer. &nbsp;It’s almost shoulder length.... &nbsp;:-)</div><div><br /></div><div>2020 has been surprising due to the juxtaposition of uncertainty and stress contrasted with continued wardrobe and personal style satisfaction. Dressing for work days provided a sense of division between work-time and leisure. &nbsp;My 2020 wardrobe served as a resource to help form comforting routine in a time of turmoil.<br /></div><div><br /></div><div>Happy New Year to everyone! &nbsp;</div><div><br /></div><div><br /></div><div><br /></div><div><br /></div><div><br /></div><div><br /></div><div><br /></div><div><br /></div><div>&nbsp;</div><div><br /></div>
