lisa p: Thank you for sharing and I look forward to seeing more of your skirt outfits.

Bijou: Thank you. Yes it is a great goal and it's time for me to actually do it. When I was building my wardrobe, it was fun to shop randomly for what I liked, but now that I have more than enough, it's time to shop smarter.

Katerina: Thank you for your kind and thoughtful words.

suntiger: Thank you for thinking of this challenge and trying to help me save my orphans. But they have to go, they've been taking up space too long. The pants and the jacket are too tight or uncomfortable, and the shoes are not my style. Someone will enjoy them because they're hardly worn.

Runcarla: Thank you for your kind thoughts. Dressing for my current lifestyle is a goal of mine, too. DH loves dressy clothing and helping me pick out outfits, so I've started shopping online. I've got enough Out and About Clothing and need nicer home clothes.

Sterling: Thank you. The first six items were fairly easy but going forward will be hard. I currently have about 185 items which is way too much for my closet space and mind.

Joy: Thank you. You have done a big purge in the last few months, haven't you? The pearls sound like a wonderful addition to your wardrobe. Suntiger thought of the challenge, but I added the donating part to my personal challenge.

I have not bought anything this month except a necklace of nice pearls on leather on consignment and the donation bag is growing. Bonnie, your purchases look fab and wisely chosen. Thank you for starting this challenge.

GREAT challenge parameters. I especially like the part of culling three items per month. I too think that will be the hardest part of the challenge.

Bonnie, I really appreciate your WIW posts and your thoughts on style. In the past year I've edited out ALL my skirts and dresses (except my dressy capsule) because what I wore for work doesn't reflect my current (retired) lifestyle. Now I want to reintroduce a little swish - and your styling is right up my alley. Thanks for posting your outfit!

Yay! I'm glad to see the slow shop challenge successful Maybe look at your orphans and see if there's a wardrobe hole that could deorphan more than one (if you still love them)?

You have purchased wonderful things for your style and wardrobe! The grey sweater is really lovely - perfect colour and looks soft and luxurious, a great essential skirt to create many outfits with - I bet it looks nice with your combat boots as well. And a great decision on the boots.
The outfit is fabulous and so are you!

Gretchen: Thank you I've already worn them and that's a good sign, right?
Jenn: Thank you. I did wear them together last Sunday out for lunch on a stormy, cold day.
shevia: Thank you. I am trying to add things more mindfully. The subtracting is the hard part. I'm not a hoarder but I tend to hang on to orphans thinking that they might work some day.

I decided that my challenge would be to limit myself to three purchases each month hoping that it would make me more selective and ensure that I've allocated my budget over the whole year. I was successful in January and added one dress, one cardigan, and one pair of slippers. Another part of my challenge was to donate three items which I did but I think that's going to be the hardest part going forward.

This month I again stuck to my goal of three items. I bought a gray JCrew sweater, a black H&M skirt, and a pair of black Born boots. I've added a photo and the finds below. I love all of these purchases. The skirt was the one Lisa P posted and is a great skirt. I like the length and fabric and since it is my only skirt, it has inspired me to create outfits. The JCrew sweater is beautiful, fits well, and goes with much of my wardrobe. It's really warm and perfect for the really cold days we've been having. The downside is that it's a bit itchy but I have really sensitive skin. I might get a thin T neck to wear under it. I asked for help choosing my new boots but in the end it just came down to what felt the most comfortable. My goal was to be able to walk for miles in cities and museums.

Donations: Black zipper jacket, JCrew wide leg pants, Gap black wide leg pants, black suede pumps, born slides, Gap yoga pants. (Jan/Feb)
