And the feeling you've described is just how I feel about my holiday/party capsule. It's so easy to end up with a sea of dark neutrals -- one feels so grown up, wearing black and navy -- but I really, really need a contrasting element somewhere, whether it's white, bright, shiny, whatever. I'm just bad at shopping for those things, because it's the dark pieces that always catch my eye. I think I’ll need to think more about shopping goals, as I still make make mistakes.</p> <p>**Style goal 1: To add fun, creative energy to my summer wardrobe**</p> <p>Reasons: 1. current wardrobe is subdued and calm and does not reflect my artistic side. 2. I am getting old and need to live a little 3. I was trying to copy the style of people I admire rather than finding style within myself 4. I always feel “brighter” in the summer and wardrobe should reflect that.</p> <p>That is the only style goal, actually.</p> <p>To achieve my singular style goal, I will:</p> <p>Add a small dose of clear colours —red, fuchsia, emerald, cobalt, orange, if available</p> <p>Add metallics on tshirts and footwear</p> <p>Add accessories in colours or bolder ones.</p> <p>Keep navy blue as the basis for all of my clothing.</p> <p>Add a backpack</p> <p>Avoid black (too Sophisticated) </p>
