I'm hoping to add black sandals and a new handbag with black details, color blocking, or maybe all black. I may add a pair of flared jeans if I find the right ones before it gets too warm to wear them. I'd also like to add a few more bracelets and maybe a new necklace to my collection.

I know what you mean about the "fashion boots " for indoors -- so they don't get ruined by salt and snow! I am loving my pair of Art boots (similar shown) that I got... can't recommend this brand enough--very comfortable and high quality leather. I am also after a basic navy blue blazer-- like you with the white jeans, I imagine everything with a blue blazer that I don't own!

Nice list! I agree that white shirts must fit. (I have the opposite issue, but I totally understand what it's like to not fit into a regular size!). And have fun finding the right pair of white jeans.

My list includes zero basics. I can hardly believe I'm totally covered in this area, but there is literally nothing I need -- not even underpants. However, I still have some Christmas money to spend, so I'm on the hunt for the right black motorcycle jacket, and the right pair of short black boots with a 1.5" to 2" heel (not easy to find, as it happens).

Great list, Windchime! I think I'm on the same page as Suz now, because I've been adding a lot to my wardrobe the past couple of years. My wardrobe is in a good place right now in regards of essentials. I think I will concentrate on adding new basics like underwear and workout clothes, and probably some new footwear. I'd love a new statement topper for spring (long vest? Leather jacket?), and a shirtdress for spring/summer. And finally, if I can find the right ones, I'm thinking of adding a pair of flared jeans.

LISAP--if I slip an over-the-counter orthotic into my flats or low heels, it makes a huge difference in the comfort/walkability factor.
SVETA--Acquiring pieces for your dance capsule should be great fun!
QFBRENDA--thanks for getting back about that. In just a few weeks, you'll have lots of selection for your sleeveless tops.
MSMAVEN--One truly comfortable (and stylish) pair of walking shoes is worth a lot!
ANNE--good list! Hope you find much of it this year.
LINDALU--hello, fellow white jeans seeker!
SHIPSKITTY--I too find it very useful to sort out needs from wants when I'm making shopping lists. It sounds like there's some fuchsia in your future!

Very interesting to read everyone's lists. I'm an Aussie so we've got Autumn coming as our next season so I'm starting to think about what I need for then. Too early to start shopping really though as the stores are still full of summer items. I don't need anything else for summer except a couple of cropped cardis to go over work dresses but this style/length of cardi seems to be unavailable this year (looked everywhere) so I'll just have to make do with mine that are getting a bit worn and try again next year.

I just did a wardrobe re-org so my main needs for autumn/winter are:
- black dressy pants
- 2-3 long sleeve scoop, v-neck or cowl tops in cool tones
- non-blue jeans or equivalent pants in some other colour
- knee-length denim skirt or equivalent to wear with boots

Wants in priority order (we'll see how the budget goes):
- new handbag in fuchsia (spelling?) instead of my current taupe bag
- rectangular print scarf starring fuchsia
- watch with more 'edge' than my current boyfriend and classic ladies
- statement jacket - maybe tux style to wear with jeans etc
- long cardi in an interesting style
- grey or navy suede booties in an interesting style

This is a big replacement year for me - pleather jacket, knee high black boots, leggings (poss skirted) at the very least
I need urgently to buy some new shoes for my new job
Hoping I'll lose some weight and not have to get new office skirts
Plan to buy a poncho and a loose sweater
Plus I still have only bought 2 summer items and it was my goal to really update my summer casual clothes as I have bought hardly any for some years

I made a tentative list, then looked in my closet, then erased the tentatives for now. All I really need is to find a comfortable pair of walking shoes.

Windchime, sorry I forgot you asked me about when I get rid of summer tops. Most of mine were faded, showing wear on the fabric, and 2 were a shape that I'm tired of plus were wearing out. So the decision to get rid of them was pretty easy. I have no idea what I'll get to replace them though. I'll be checking out Angie's suggestions plus thredup.com for sleeveless tops since that's what I like best for summer.

Windchime, I SOO hear you on long enough sleeves (and pants)! I hope you cna find them in 2015.
I was lucky to fill several wardrobe holes in 2014:
- white straight leg jeans from JCrew - check!
- dressy winter boots with low heel from Blondo - check!
- black flat Chelsea booties which I can wear in cold weather from UGG - check!
- new LONG puffer coat - check!
Here are my holes to fill (hopefully) for 2015:
- classic but current  trouser suit in navy;
- a couple of classic but current blazers for work;
- winter worthy dressy boots and booties which are non black.
It was really hard to find blazers for me which are long enough and fit well: apparently I have a body which is hard to fit for blazers!
I am always on the lookout for stylish and comfortable footwear as well so this is always on the list!
I also need to build my dance capsule - both for practices and socials. This is a fun hole to fill! ;-0

ALWAYSTRYING--Yet another detailed and thoughtful list for the new year.
ANGIE--Wants are as welcome as needs; I've learned this from you. And can I ever see you in the beautiful tomato red jacket and pants! I've got the same pants, in navy, on a list of possibilities.
SUSIE--How great to love the items in your closet more than the items in stores! Your new sweater and booties sound fab; will we get to see them sometime? :)
JANET--You seem to be in a very comfortable place with your wardrobe right now. I'm impressed with your careful standards for future acquisitions. Good luck with the boots; a satisfying combination of comfort and style is surprisingly rare.
THISTLE--Thanks! A year ago I felt I wanted and needed pretty much everything; the fact that I can list half a dozen priorities shows some progress, I think. Sounds like you're going to be on the hunt for wild card items this year--Big fun!

** Jeans .

I feel similarly to Susie. There are no real wardrobe holes, maybe a few "wants" but nothing particularly strong.

- I've never found my ideal black (or dark solid) casual sleeved dress, but I'm not fretting it because I just don't bother with dresses much in the fall/winter anyway.

- I wouldn't mind a solid black or grey simple drapey blouse (but I may have the solution if I can dye my old stained white one).

- I would also kind of like to replace some of my older high-heeled booties with some more walkable versions, but I'm proceeding slowly with that, selling the things I don't wear anymore and keeping a casual eye out for eventual replacements. The blue Modern Vice booties I got a few months ago have set the bar REALLY high for future footwear purchases. It's not easy to find shoes that I find comfortable for miles of walking AND are really cool and distinctive, yet not overembellished or overdesigned.

- I wouldn't mind finding another pair of easy-fit skinnies (not too boyfriendy, not too skinny) in a soft fabrication and slightly faded wash, since the Dre jeans did not work for me. I'm eyeing the AGs below. My old Paige straights are 3+ years old and I know they won't last forever. With jean rises getting higher, I'm afraid I might have a hard time finding jeans that work for me if I wait too long (high-waisted styles are not my friend).

I don't plan to add anything else for the remaining winter months. My Mom and I went shopping on Monday and it made me want to go home and hug my closet! Things felt picked over and I didn't see anything that I wanted to wear as much as what I already have. Now that doesn't mean I don't have some new things in my closet. I got a black cashmere sweater with leather sleeves from DH for Christmas plus black and cream booties from my Mom. In the last few weeks, I bought KUT cream cords and black flocked plaid jeans and a fun black clutch.

Last year I shopped pretty early for spring and I am going to hold off on even planning too much at this point. I know that I will want to add some new shoes for summer as well as a few tops. But I plan to be very picky - and more patient rather than attempting to get everything checked off the list- and follow Angie on "organized emotional shopping."

I have on my list at least 1 pair of workout bottoms, and harder to find, multi purpose t's that can be worn to the gym, but also as layering under things like chambray and plaid shirts. Also replace some skinnies with more straight lag jeans.

DEBBIE--Actually, it sounds like you're well on your way with 2015 ideas. Shopping for gear on New Year's Day sounds lovely (it's bitter cold here and I'm recovering from flu.) This can be the year of several special statement pieces for you--like your fab Secret Santa bracelet. There should be loads of sandals options in just a few more months...
LAURA--It sounds like you're in good shape, overall! Here's hoping your Christmas orders work out well for you. I want to try boyfriend jeans this year, too.
BETTYCROCKER--Hope you find one spectacular statement-making brown leather jacket with a huge happiness factor! I'm interested to know what sorts of retro items you find. There are a couple bloggers I read who wear lots of vintage, mostly thrifted, and manage to always look great.
JOY--Your pewter sandals sound beautiful! Ah, yes, Angie picks--one sure way to expand our wishlists! The items I've bought from her picks have been fantastic.
QFBRENDA--What a good, precise list. How do you decide when to let go of summer tops? I struggle with knowing when to let things go.

SHARON--you're really thinking through your winter purchases in detail. This will pay off when it's time to shop.
RUNCARLA--Your list sounds like you are going to have all kinds of fun with fashion this year! You MUST show us your Burbury, when you find it. :)
CARTER--Don't worry, we won't hold you to not "needing" much. Need is relative! I am going to have to check out Gap 1969 jeans; I keep hearing YLFers praise them. Hmmm...do they come in white?! Bummer about the pilled white tees; you can't know these things until you buy, wear, and wash, can you?
KL-- sounds like you're looking mostly for professional items this year. I've seen oodles of black skirts in many styles and fabrics. You'll have lots of options. What color(s) are you looking for in heels/flats?
ELLY--Michigan has the same weather math: 1/2 winter = 1/3 cold season! White shoes could be a terrific addition for you, as will a tube skirt. I bought one in late summer--black lightweight jersey-- and could have worn it three times a week; I loved it THAT much. I was sad when the weather turned too cold to wear it anymore.

Nice list!

1) summer tops! I threw some away and purged some others at the end of last summer. I really need some new ones.

2) flowy cardigans... or whatever shape is fashionable in the fall. Some of my cardigans are getting ratty looking.

3) good quality black leggings

4) 1 nice bag... not sure what exactly yet

5) must replace my bras

I'm sure other things will crop up but those are on the top of my list.

Number one on my list is a pair of black or pewter ankle strap sandals or peep toes with a low chunky heel. Everything I like has heels that are too high but I hope spring will bring new styles. ( I'm not describing the style very well, but something like Deborah would wear only with a low heel)
I also think that I want to replace most of my tops with something more fluid.
I want a second pair of specs and a shirtwaist dress if I can find the right one.
Other than that, I will be watching Angie's picks.

I would like to save $$$ for a timeless brown leather jacket, even if that's all I buy in 2015.

I'd also like to carefully add some retro pieces to my wardrobe.

I ordered a few things after Christmas that, assuming they work out, should have me pretty set for the rest of winter. I still am on the lookout for a replacement black cardigan and I'd like to find longer cardigans in other colors as well. I had wanted to find a pair of grey tall boots but if that doesn't happen this year it's not the end of the world.

By spring (i.e. when it's warm enough not to wear tall boots with pants any more) I'd like to find some looser jeans, boyfriend style or something that works with my figure but still looks current with the trends toward looser stuff.

I'm still looking for a pair of lace up oxfords in a taupe or grey, or other flats that aren't ballet flats.

For spring I should be pretty set for jeans, shoes, shirts, sweaters - might need to refresh some bras and such and some of my skirts are getting long in the tooth.

I picked up some end of season stuff for summer this fall so I should be in decent shape for summer. That's about as far as I'm willing to speculate - I'm sure I'll find plenty of things I need by then!

I have been thinking about this and have no definite items but update lounge wear which I hope to do tomorrow.
The one thing I want is a change. I feel stuck so I know I am looking for a statement piece of some kind.

I do want a pair of statement sandals for the summer.

2015 is going to be another building year for me. I have a couple items on order for fall/winter and am REALLY hoping they work out. A little more variety in the COLOR of bottoms, a couple extra tops, and in the color and fabric of jackets, plus an additional belt are the things I really notice myself reaching for now that we are a little less than halfway through our winter, and about 1/3 way through our cold season.

Most of the tops I've purchased for winter will be worn in transitional weather without underlayers and toppers-- This is my general formula-- mixing summer tops with winter toppers and winter tops san toppers or with summer toppers. Shoes tend to be my weak area in transitional seasons. It is too early for me to start predicting needs/buys for F/W 2015.

However, I am starting to formulate ideas for Spring/summer 2015. One area of need is shoes. I'd like to add a pair of colored flats, possibly a pair of perforated slipper flats, and a pair of leather sneakers (probably white). I think one jacket in a light color is in order. I have to stay true to myself and my work dress code, so I'd like to experiment with a pair of BF jeans and a pair of cropped pants. I'd also like a tube skirt. From there I'd like to find an oversized shirt in a summer weight, several fluid tees, a tank or two, and perhaps a dress. I also need to add a gallery-appropriate blouse or dress, and want to try acessorizing again with a summer scarf, a belt that coordinates with the new shoes, and maybe a vest.

Great list Windchime! I feel like mine is a work in progress of sorts. I feel like I'm always on the lookout for things, but they fluctuate on their priority.

1) A replacement black pencil skirt
2) Dressy low heels and flats
3) Wide-leg fluid trousers
4) A gray skirt in a professional length/cut
5) A green cardigan

Nice list! I'm just starting to think through mine, so this is just the beginning. However, I will put in writing that I really don't think I need too much:-).

1. Shoes. My foot is still too swollen post-surgery to know what will or won't work from my current wardrobe. I may need a couple extra wide, extra ugly pair for Spring if I'm still swollen. Hopefully, after that most will fit, and I can concentrate on replacements of worn out pairs (mostly sandals). I do have a bad feeling about my loafers working because they will rub on the scar. We will see.

2. Another pair or 3 of the Gap 1969 real straights when I get back to my normal size after months of limited exercise and excess carbs!

3. replacement black and white belts

4. fluid white tees. I bought some this year that were great...until I washed them and they pilled ridiculously.

5. couple pair of 3 season full length work slacks, probably in gray and black

6. Spring sweater or 2.

7. Replacement Summer work tops...sleeveless, fluid, neutral solids and colored patterns

8. Two dress-up tops to throw on with black pants and call it done for any event. Possibly a new LBD as well.

There will likely be more (there always is), but that's all I've got for now.

Once you add white jeans, there is no going back! You will love the freshness and versatility.

1. My search for a great coloured winter coat continues, but I have had an epiphany (just recently) that I don't need the heavy weight and warmth in my new community where the temperature has yet to go below -10 degC., that I required in my previous home (-20 deg.C or colder!).

2. Trench coat. I'm going to investigate Burbury and see if I can check off an item on my sartorial wish list this year!

3. A new black pencil skirt.

4. Some fab summer shoes/sandals. Comfortable, and accommodating to my feet, while being fashionable.

5. I am also going to tweak my shorter 'do (which I am loving) so it is a little more trendy, and learn some styling techniques so that I can change up the look.

6. Not a well formed idea (yet) but I want to experiment with trends and try things outside my comfort zone in order to inject a little oomph into my style. Maybe a trend inspired purchase once every 2 months?
