Thank you ladies! Angie, that is a great idea and I will try it for sure. It seems that I should spend some time playing in my closet.

WOWZA! Your own personal knitter! I love these on you, both as you've worn them and as a vest. I can also see these with dressy linen shorts. So pretty and flattering on you!

Wow, I love all these tops on you, Tanya! They look lacy and feminine. Your mom is so talented! I especially love Angie's suggestion of tucking them into wide leg pants and jeans. You look beautiful, and your first outfit look wonderful! It really updates the item.

Sure :)

I just thought of something else: can you tuck the crochet tops into your high-waisted wide leg jeans and pants?

Thank you all very much! Lots of good ideas here.

So, my mom has actually made all the 3, in #3-5. And the one in #4 is the same top I wore in #1, it was just an example of what I thought of so far in terms of styling. The #5, green top, is a mock neck.

Jeanne, I hear you about #2. The cobalt knit is actually a medium weight sweater, not a tee. It does show the jean hardware a little, although not as bad as it looks in the picture, but personally I do not mind too much.

ManidipaM, thank you for all the great input. Yes, #3 is a bit shorter, so skirts would probably work well with it. I will play around with your suggestions, the only one that wouldn't work is layering them under wrap dresses as the knits a re pretty substantial, thicker than my dresses.

Naz, that is a great idea. I will send mom the photo, I am sure she will like it. Now you make me want a colored pencil skirt :)

Angie, that is a great suggestion too. I only have one floral skirt - it is white with cobalt and a bit of black, so it should work well with most of these tops.

Those pointelle knit tops look beautiful on you, Tanya. Can you wear them with your cute flared floral skirts?

Love the way you wore one as a vest!

Tanya, I love the knit top your mom made. You must take a photo and send it to her. The striped jacket fits great on you. I love the colors on 4 and 5. I think you can make these tops work with skinny jeans/pants or even a pencil skirt (although I know you can't wear skirts to work).

What a very talented lady your mother is! Not only are these tops beautiful, they show off your shape to perfection!

One idea for playing with the 'holes' in these tops is to layer a brighter coloured cami under them. Or you could add depth by putting darker tonals --- blush under ivory, navy under blue... Also, consider the effect of putting the long tee from #2 under either the blue or the green tops, so the colour peeks through and the hemline shows from underneath (sleeves as well, of course!)

#3, the ivory, looks a little shorter than the others --- I wonder if that might do better tucked into pants or worn over a skirt or dress-as-skirt?

I also notice that all three shells have a high and interesting neckline. So what if you wore them to layer under a deeper neckline or a wrap dress/top? Or directly under a jacket? Your striped jacket here should be good; as would denim jackets or a blazer if you wear one in warmer weather.

I loved 3,4 and 5 look. You could try to layer the first cobalt blue with some longer tank tops in neutral colors.

My favorite is the one your mom made. Great color, fit and very unique in a good way. I love the jacket in #2, but not completely sold on the long tee underneath which is showing all your jean hardware. It would work with something same length and white and less fitted? I love the ivory lace tank as well, but I'm not sure on the last (green) one - is it a turtleneck?

I love the way the crotchet tanks look on you in 3-4-5! The white one with a black bra underneath is very chic. You could wear this one with a black skirt or black pants, jeans for a more casual look. #4 and #5 would look great with a tonal, colored denim approach. Or some swingy skirts.

I think the cut shows your lovely torso. I wish I had a waist like yours! So keep those tops, very very flattering.

Here are two more outfits from this week, both of which include a cobalt knit and something striped: grey/white jeans and white/black jacket. The cobalt top in #1 has been made by my mom and I am very embarrassed to admit that it has been sitting unworn in my closet for a couple of years, and there are more such items (photos included). Since crochet/hole-y knits seem to be on trend this season I decided to bring them out and see if I can make them work. #1 is my first attempt and I am looking for additional styling ideas, other then layering over white shirt. Also, feel free to tell me if you think these items are hopeless and better of remaining well hidden in my closet.

#1: cobalt top-courtesy of Mom, white shirt- Banana Republic, grey/white striped jeans - Hudson, pewter wedges - Me Too.
#2: Striped jacket - Club Monaco, cobalt sweater- VS, black pants - Gap, black studded pointy-toed flats - Steve Madden
