I believe my tendency to do it is based on a few things: 1) I was overweight in my teens and 20's and it was hard to find clothes that fit and were comfortable. Obviously ordering and returning online didn't exist, curvy fits didn't exist, and I absolutely dreaded shopping, especially with my mother. Also, being 5'4" pants were often too long, and my Mom didn't sew and I didn't know about tailor services at a dry cleaner, so it was a miracle to get a good fit, and we bought our pants too short usually!&nbsp; If I found something that fit, I was so relieved that I wanted to just get it in three colors.&nbsp; 2) My feet are wide, so shoes are often a challenge. When I find a comfortable shoe, my knee jerk reaction is to always at least duplicate if not triplicate. 3) More recently, in my YLF years, I find nice things that work on my body, like those Old Navy motos or the Quince ponte pants, and are bargains and are easy to pack and wear on travel, so again - off I go getting them in several colors. It definitely is a bit of a compulsion.</p> <p>I wish I could just develop a uniform / capsule attitude - like you say, save the faffing around! I CAN do it...I have the closet for it. But, I'm not that organized.</p> <p>I find that I end up wearing one or two colors of a thing much more than all the rest and so the multi-duplicated items often don't come out much. I have spent a lot of money on unnecessary items. On the other hand, suddenly this fall I'm all inspired to pull stuff out of the closet again, and it's all there, it's basic, and it fits.&nbsp; I really need to stop buying for a good long time. I don't have tons of closet space, though, and I do have tons of clothes, so trying to weed out too.&nbsp;<br /> No surprise, I'm finding nice outfits, right there in my closet. Amazing.</p> <p>I have been wearing more cognac lately. (Of the 3 colors of the amazingly comfortable Clarks sandals from kellygirl's rec, I have gotten the most use out of the cognac.) Pairing with black today.&nbsp;</p> <p>Today, to get a flu shot, drop off returns at UPS, and bring a couple of pairs of jeans to be hemmed, I wore the following outfit. The Old Navy faux suede jacket is now at least 7 years old. These (I have several) have been amazing workhorses for me. They look brand new every time I wash them. </p> <p>I never wear these Paul Green flats, and they're the most comfortable darned shoes. Glad I rediscovered them! Bag is the Aimee Kestenberg Tamitha backpack. Love these bags.</p> <p>The only new item is the BRFactory joggers, and they're too long, but the petite was too short, so I hike them up a bit.&nbsp;</p> <p>Have a good week.
