On my monitor the jackets look as if they fit your palette precisely and they look fabulous on you. I actually wrote a long comment on this yesterday that seems have disappeared into cyberspace, but one point I made was why not try out some outfits. These jackets do not look at all orange-red to me on my screen. The squiggle one even has the pink in it plus a lovely silvery tone --- what could be more perfect? But if you have doubts or fear they do not work you probably wouldn't wear.

Sterling, I don’t think I have posted as many pictures of myself in pink or red. I typically feel very confident of my choices with these colors. I have my doubts with the squiggle jacket, mostly because it looks orange to me when I hold it up against my wardrobe. Is that a reason to reject it? I’m trying to figure that out? It only happens in certain light. I love the fit, the cut, the texture, etc. My style goal for this year was to add some texture. The jacket is in keeping with my newly revised by Angie style moniker, Serenely Refined

I am leaning towards rejecting the red trench. Unfrumped made me really think about how often I might wear it and what I have been using instead. My citron, grey, and taupe trenches work with everything, although the only one that is truly in my palette is the grey. I’m trying to replace the Creenstone citron and taupe trenches. I really want something special, probably red or fuschia. Last year, I purchased a Helly Hansen raincoat in a light teal color thinking it could serve as a casual stand in for the citron trench. The new raincoat is casual and practical, but didn’t meet my expectations because it doesn’t work well with anything dressy. The citron trench is hard to beat. It is one of those versatile pieces that crosses into the dressy realm if needed but still works with casual garb. Wardrobe items that meet that criteria seem to function best in my wardrobe. In fact, I should add that as a new criterion to consider for certain types of purchases. “Items should be versatile enough to cross into the dressy realm, but also work with casual outfits”.

Thanks Jussie! Since last year, I have been craving the combination of red and pink together. I saw some pictures that Angie posted, and then I also saw a number of outfits in that combination as part of NY Fashion week, maybe for Spring 2017? In any case, I have been looking for items to add that reflect this newfound desire. So far the best, and most fun has been a pair of Kate Spade scarves that were on sale. Normally I wouldn’t have purchased both, but they reminded me of the Matryoshka dolls my dad’s best friend brought back from a medical trip to the U.S.S.R. when I was a kid. He told me to be very careful and save the package because he was certain it would become valuable since it was labeled U.S.S.R. and he didn’t think it would continue to exist as such. He had the gift of clairvoyance! I was probably 8 years old, and I don’t have the packaging, which was a paper bag, but, I still have the dolls. They are faded, and were well loved by me, my friends, and later by my daughter, her friends, and my nieces when they come over. So, when I saw the scarves, I knew, they were for me! :-). The red one looks okay with the squiggle jacket.....

Sterling, your question may be the most relevant! LOL! My wardrobe colors are as follows: Neutrals are grey, white and denim blue, but I have some holdover olive and chocolate from the past, and I also will use dark eggplant when available because I love that color. My accent colors are watermelon reds (or pink reds which include fuschia, true red, and very pale pink), pink corals which range dark to light, but my preference is for the dark, blue greens particularly light teals, and aquas, or any blues that remind me of the Mediterranean Sea or the sky on a sunny day at the beach, and I think that’s it. I have tended to use the reds and pinks for my formal wear and for accent colors, which means accessories like shoes, bags, and coats and for more formal dresses which I don’t wear to work, although I have some pink-red dresses that are work appropriate. I think I have shown some of the dresses before. Below is most of my pink/red capsule, minus some true red cashmere sweaters and a red down coat which are not in my finds. I have wanted to add to the darker end of my red spectrum for a while. It looks like some of the pink sweaters and one deep pink-Red, Cross body bag is missing also. Now that I think about it, I have red Patent leather Go Go boots, red AGL ballerina flats, red Fly London sandals, and red oxfords as well. I also have beautiful ruby earrings, pendant, and ring that I purchased for myself as a gift when I paid off my student loans.

Does red fit into your carefully designed and disciplined color palette? I had to look several times to make sure I was reading a post by Staysfit.

On a side note, I would kill for an Armani jacket. It just is not a reality for me. I will watch this thread carefully.

Wow both those jackets are absolutely beautiful. To my eye they match the colour swatches too. I actually have a slight preference for the peplum one, but that might be because I am a less formal dresser myself.
I agree with the other person who suggested trying them on with other outfits, just to work out which would integrate best into your wardrobe.

I'm another vote for the squiggles jacket. It looks really well made and detailed and matches your swatches and looks great!
But with your expression in pic 4, you don't look like you like it?!
The other one, while still an awesome colour, doesn't look to be worth "pricey", to me. I appreciate it will be for a different purpose. I'm amused by Bridgie telling you to get both! That's our lovely enabling Bridgie!

Another vote for #4/12. It's a truly special, stunning piece, and the colors are great on you. The other one is lovely, and also a great color, and I'm sure that up close the details are exactly what one would expect from Armani. But, I agree with the other comments, that from the distance of the pictures, it looks like any other windbreaker. Also, from previous comments, I seem to recall that you're fairly tall. This could be the angle of the picture, but, to my eye, the peplum makes 3/13 look a bit short on you.

The texture and pattern of the jacket diffuses the impact of the red in a way that is a little more obviously flattering than the flat red of the windbreaker. I'm also not sure about the fit of the flare at the bottom but both of these "negatives" may be photo translation issues and non problematic in real life.

Staysfit, the windbreaker jacket also reminded me strangely of those childhood "K-way" which in my French-speaking little girl's mind translated as "Qué ouais", "What Yup".
But yours is infinitely nicer with its cut peplum and streamline cut.

Oh, I should clarify, the jacket in picture 13 is definitely a sporty trench, and fills a completely different need in my wardrobe than the jacket in picture 12. The sporty trench reminds me of the red windbreakers I wore as a child. I see the red trench as casual, and something I would use on a weekend, and possibly on days I work at a site where I see younger children. I think it looks polished but has a fun element to it because of its shape and color. The squiggle jacket is definitely both more refined and polished, and fits right in with my workday style as a statement piece. I don’t see these two jackets competing with one another because their functional purposes would be very different in my life. There is room for both, but are these the correct statement jackets for me? Should I keep looking? (It figures I’m calling it the squiggle jacket! I think it’s really called the Flame jacket, but references from my work life creep into everything!)

If you’re looking for a statement jacket, #12 is it. There’s nothing wrong with the other one, but #12 is really special. I hope that’s the one you decide to keep.

I like # 12 best. The cut, the color, the design... everything.

They're two different jackets for different purposes too... #13 look like it's more casual and sporty. So you have to take this in consideration: what do you intend to wear it for, when and with what? # 12 is more structures and couture, it elevates any denim outfit to a polished look, which is a useful thing to own if you're often on the go or have days when you couldn't care less but don't want to convey that to the rest of the world.
