Summers are hot and humid, hence messy for whites --- you need 'privilege' to wear a lot of white in summer, or willingness/budget to get refresh your whites every season or every other season (that used to be the norm for the sheer embroidered shirts we all wore in summer, growing up; wonder how many still do that). I would want it to be fairly snug for practicality reasons, since you probably want to be able to wear a wool coat or puffer over it for outdoors.
