I feel for you, Anne!

Since I don't work in an office anymore (I work from our home) I am so much happier during the holiday season as I don't have to contend with rich temptations lying around in the office kitchen! Unfortunately I'm either an all-or-nothing person. Meaning, I can usually resist having that first bite, but if I do.... :-/

Anne, as controlled as I usually am - I DO have my weaknesses. And raw batter is one of them. High five!

An overflow of Christmas spirit! Yes, I know that well! The good news about gingerbread is that the spices tend to tell me when to stop. It's a milder flavor, like a sugar cookie, that slays me.

And give yourself credit for packing that bag every morning and going to work on your own power! I'm sure DH was happy to help you out. After all, you're feeding him so royally!

Oh dear! Glad DH could come to the rescue.
I blame this busy time of year, with kids on holidays my routines are shot and I completely forgot to attend a meeting last night!
Enjoy the gingerbread. We eats lots of dough here, too.....

Sharan, I'm glad to hear that I'm not the only one who has had a DH come to the rescue!

I think DD will still doubt my warnings - she says she can feel the problem as soon as she eats something (eg we went out for breakfast recently and there were delicious fried mushrooms and she loved them but gave most of them to me as she said they were "too rich".)Cheesecake is another problem for her. She did have a 3rd choccie bikkie with no ill effects! I on the other hand evidently have a longer lag time. It might be related to the iron tablets I'm on too,

Now my next problem is going to be rolling out and baking the gingerbread tomorrow with the kids without repeating the problem (I LOVE gingerbread!).

Way to teach by example, Anne--ha ha! (Your daughter surely won't doubt your warnings, now, right?) Kidding aside, I'm sorry you had a bad evening. Kudos for biking to work, and let's hear it for DHs that come to the rescue! Many times mine has brought whatever teaching supplies or lunch that I've left by the door on my way to work.

Angie - there I was thinking you'd have been way more self controlled!!
Sweet things are a weakness of mine for sure, and cake mixture is up there.

I had my bag all ready and packed so DH just had to pick it up. Funnily enough, when only 2 minutes away from home I realised I'd forgotten to put something in the bag, and decided not to bother returning home from it - but never realised the backpack was never there at all.

Joy - no -all day parking is too expensive in my city (we have 2 cars, but I either take the bus or cycle in) Happily he is working from home at the moment, with lots of flexibility, so he was able to come in.

Xtabay. Pumpkin cookies sounds very yummy. I love pumpkin flavoured sweet things, and see lots of recipes on the net but they aren't big in Australia. We mostly eat them savoury - and I love them and go through heaps.

It happens to the best of us, Anne - and I would have been right there with you demolishing that mixture. Bless hubs for sorting out your work outfit.

One clothes related, one not.

Yesterday was my day off, and I did lots of baking. Tried out a new very chocolaty Nigella Lawson biscuit (cookie) recipe, made a batch of gingerbread dough and made GF pastry for a pie for our evening meal.

And guess who ate so much mixture she made herself sick!! The very same woman who was cautioning her daughter not to have a third helping because DD has a history of throwing up after rich food, was doing the same in the middle of the night. And I have a pretty iron stomach.

Then today, I rode my bike into work, and was about to enter my building when I realised that I had forgotten my bag - with my change of clothes, money, makeup and shampoo in it!!! Thank goodness DH was able to drive into the city and drop it off to me, and that I didn't have any early meetings that I had to attend in leggings and a tee and running shoes, with unwashed hair and no makeup!

Am very grateful to him, and feeling pretty silly myself.
