I frequently change &nbsp;buttons on items to make them more versatile for my color palette or metal-mixing, &nbsp;or better quality. My first decision is usually, do I want the button to be a star or to be in the background. If you are wearing a lot of black, the right black--fabric or faux leather--&nbsp;might work, or a metallic that is darker and more subdued&nbsp; &nbsp;than the gold. &nbsp;If you can find the right size, I've had luck with a&nbsp;type of&nbsp;pewter finish, almost black,&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;or maybe a brushed nickel.
