Rabbit: I used to buy maternity jeans/pants due to my larger waist! They were soooo comfortable and just seem to work, except they keep falling off me! And this is why I mention that the empire look wouldn't bother other women. It fits with certain style personas, and obviously it works for you. I used to wear empire waists on a regular basis but people often ask me when I'm due. Yikes!

I guess that just doesn't bother me with tops, I like empire waists and sometimes floaty fullness below. To my eye this isn't even close to that look. Confession: I have a maternity top that I've worn and I've never been or plan to be pregnant ;).

Thanks Rabbit! What drew me to the top is precisely that: the hem! It has that beautiful hi-Lo effect, but I can't seem to figure out his to style it without looking like I'm expecting. Perhaps I'll give it another shot.

I think you look great in both outfits, some of my favorites on you. I also think the peplum top looks really good on you and is a good shape, I love how the hem hits.

Thanks Tanya! Yeah the peplum top, for some reason just made me look pregnant. I know some women don't mind that, but it's not a look I tend to go for. The top is made of a beautiful sturdy rayon that feels lovely on the skin. I think if it was a different shape, it would be worth keeping.

I am sorry you do not feel comfortable in the peplum top, but I think you look great in it, in both outfits! I especially like the edgy/dreamy quality of the second one as you describe it.

I've been so busy with work and life lately that I haven't had a chance to post WIW's. Here goes,

Thursday (1-2)
I slept in slightly and was frantically dressing myself. I grabbed this peplum-like tunic that I hesitated over for quite sometime. It was too chilly to go sleeveless so I grabbed one of my "demoted" floaty cardigans. It's initially long bug I tied it under the bust. I thought I looked pregnant. Despite the comfort, I decided that I not loving this peplum top. I also debuted my new BOC sandals today. It's the right mix of comfy, edgy, dressy.

Top: Grace
Cardigan: Bobeau
Skirt: Vince Camuto
Sandals: BOC

NECKLACE (pic #3):
When I'm not too swamped in school and work, I work on crafts with a coworker and some artistic acquaintances. I was inspired by a colour blocked wood necklace I've seen so I decided to make one for myself. After 3 attempts, I got it right.

Friday: (4-5)
The BF is having a fundraiser at a bar so I decided to wear something "casual-evening" friendly. When I created the concept for the outfit last night, I struggled a lot. I decided to wear the peplum top again to see if I'll love it more. It didn't work out. I tried wearing an obi belt but had to take it off at because it was so fussy and was not laying flat on my stomach.

I loved this outfit overall because it had a very edgy yet floaty/comfy/dreamy feel. However, I would not wear the peplum tunic next time. I wish I had worn my black Club Monaco Adriana top instead. It would've been a really good soft/hard contrast. Sadly, I didn't even remember I had this top!

Top: Grace
Kîmono topper: Fate (via Mendocino)
Leggings: American Eagle
Boots: Camper

PS. Sorry about the litter box in the photos! Oops!
