Girl X, I tried to first undo the seam from the foldover part so I could shorten it, then got a brilliant idea to cut it down and then re sew the seam. So yes, I ruined it since I don't own a sewing machine and no hand stitched job is going to fix what I did!
Yeah, it was a sleepless night. I kept dreaming I had ants crawling on me and waking up scratching and such. (we have an ant problem at the moment)

Are you sure the skirt's ruined? Can it be salvaged? And holy crap - awakened 28 times? That sucks!

Ooh, I hate when stuff doesn't hold up to the very first wash. At least my skirt had seen a year or two of wear first.
Rita, that's funny about the baby clothes at 3am.

And just for fun, I'll show you what I mean by 'couldn't sleep'. My Fitbit pedometer tracks sleep, too. Here's a graph of what a crummy night's sleep looks like. Pink is awake @@

That bites Mo. Yesterday, i wash ed and dried my new top that is supposed to be dried flat. It's not ruined, but it doesn't look as good as it did before drying- and I don't even have a middle of the night washing to blame for it!

Add this to the funny fashion stories file! I've done midnight alterations too. When my son was born I wasn't sleeping much. I would be mending baby clothes at 3:00 am. It was the only time I had to myself back then!

I couldn't sleep last night and got in my head thoughts about wardrobe items that I could 'fix' in some way. After 30 minutes of tossing, I thought I'd just go into the closet and pull them out. That way, it'd be off my mind so I could more easily drift. Well, then out came the seam ripper, and then the scissors. Sigh. I am down a black jersey foldover skirt. It was starting to pill and I am becoming less and less comfortable with the bulky foldover waist, but I wish I hadn't ruined it just yet lol. But, I did take ruching out of a top I was ready to toss and redeemed it. I'm 1 for 1 in the midnight tailoring arena. Word to the wise, don't act on half asleep alteration ideas in the wee hours!!
