The name escapes me but a former Vogue editor was famous for saying 'bad taste is better than no taste at all'. I actually love the term good taste, for me it represents dressing appropriately for all occasions.

I would also love a return of dress codes Angie, but wonder how my tattoos would be viewed?

I love this article- so funny! Laura, I also had a good laugh at the "American women have the best figures" bit. Times have changed, I guess. (Not trying to offend anyone, just speaking generally! Feel bad saying that because I'm Canuck... but hey, we're in the same boat ;)

It really struck me how similar some of her advice was to some of Angie's! So funny.

Dawn, that's interesting because I don't feel that way about the phrase "good taste". To me it's not about a hierarchy or good/bad, but rather about knowing what works for you and being exposed to design regularly. I suppose to me, "good taste" is synonymous with "developed taste"... with plenty of room for individual preferences, still!

Hah! That was fun to read. In so many ways, style advice today is just the same. And in so many ways, it's completely different.

I long for another fashion era where there was NO CASUAL. It shall never happen again :0(

I quite like it but the whole concept of 'good taste' irks me a little bit as it seems like she is creating a hierarchy of tastes from bad to good. Maybe, know your personal style and preferences would be more appropriate.

Really not bad ... I like her advice about shopping twice a year. That used to be true of a lot of people, I think. The part about American women having superior figures gave me a good laugh, though!!

Loved it! Loved when she says that men always like red because last year I went with my Husband to buy a dress for an event and he insisted on red and I see you husband also likes red.. that's funny!

I came across this article today and thought it was fun...

http://www.bluevelvetvintage.c.....sp-16.html

Ironically, I was experimenting with color this weekend and asked my husband his opinion. He said "that's a nice color, but you also look really good in red!".
