You've got some great advice here. Don't forget a light rain coat, poncho or umbrella. I agree with Joy's comment about the shorts. You can't (or shouldn't) go into the churches with shorts/minis/tanks,etc., so you might as well pack knee-length and shoulder covering items, or at least always have a scarf with you to cover up.

It may be cool outside in some of these places, but in my experience it is often quite warm inside. Also, in northern France, air conditioning is rare in private homes or moderate-price hotels and restaurants. (It's a little more common in places like Montpellier and Lourdes which are warmer, but still far from universal.) So consider packing lighter weight tops to which you can add a sweater or jacket when you're outside. Echoing others' comments above, first choose shoes that you can walk in all day, then figure out what will work with them.

an absolutely wonderful blogger with great tips on how to pack for Europe.
I have linked her travel wardrobe section and she has many wonderful posts on what she packs for Europe and why.
I found her about 4 years ago when I joined YLF and followed her advise for how to pack for a 2 week trip to Paris and was golden the whole time.
https://unefemme.net/category/.....-wardrobes

In Europe sandals are often too cold. I always pack a cashmere sweater and tops that can layer from sleeveless to that sweater. long silk underwear is another idea. Do not bother with shorts. Not only may they be too cold to wear in much of Europe, but you may want to visit places like cathedrals that will not allow you in if you are wearing shorts.

If you are flying between the places you are visiting on European airlines, check to see what carry-on size is acceptable. It is often smaller than other places.

Just chiming in to say I really agree with The Cats suggestion of a shawl or scarf. Get something big enough to wrap around your shoulders but light enough to stuff in a bag. Then you can pull it on and off as needed. I’ve found it to be best travel item no matter what the season. I like lightweight wool ones.

For added warmth and comfort on European summer days that feel chilly to you I suggest:
● Camisoles / tank tops
● Long pants or midi/maxi dress/skirt
● Longsleeved cardigan or pullover
● Shawls/scarves
● Closed-toe shoes
● Cotton socks or thin nylon hosiery (depending on your outfit)

I think that if you run cold ,layering in natural fibres is the best idea for you.Consider a denim jacket in a colour that fits with your wardrobe as they are light enough to wear in summer but will keep chills out and perhaps a light scarf. Then it really depends what activities you are doing and what you like to wear.Shoes are very important so I would start there and build from the floor up as it were.summer dresses, shorts, cropped trousers are all appropriate wear but in order to give specific advice knowing what you planned to do on your trip would help.Good luck with your packing!
