Don't forget a light rain coat, poncho or umbrella. I agree with Joy's comment about the shorts. Also, in northern France, air conditioning is&nbsp; rare in private homes or moderate-price hotels and restaurants. (It's a little more common in places like Montpellier and Lourdes which are warmer, but still far from universal.) So consider packing lighter weight tops to which you can add a sweater or jacket when you're outside. Get something big enough to wrap around your shoulders but light enough to stuff in a bag. Then you can pull it on and off as needed. I’ve found it to be best travel item no matter what the season.
